  1. Could be, does anyone really know? I'm sure someone out there could confirm this.
  2. I was told that Hatton would be to old to play his senior year, so maybe prep school his senior year? Don't know if this is true but that's what I was told by someone that was pretty close to the program.
  3. Agree. But at least the end had some excitement.
  4. This was the weakest field I can ever remember seeing. The only exciting game was Oldham Co. and KCC, the rest were actually pretty boring.
  5. Usually maybe but not this year. If Boone Co. was the best the 9th had, the region was way down. I think Knott will win tonight but not tomorrow morning.
  6. The results will be the same too. This district has to be one of the weakest districts in the state; especially compared to the other three districts in the 11th. Madison Central wins this district every year. Southern will occasionally have a competetive team but Berea and Model just can't compete with Central. Not trying to knock anyone, just stating a fact.
  7. Wow, Highlands used to be competitive year in and year out, what has happend to their program the past few years?
  8. Agree! I was thinking the exact same thing.
  9. Based on tradition? I don't think too many BIG NAME coaches were even interested in the opening. They had the position posted for three months and according to you, two other coaches with no head coaching experience turned them down. Sounds like you should be "counting your lucky stars" that they got Davis to take the job. He will be fine.
  10. You must be a mad parent because your "little Johnny" isn't getting the playing time you want him to get. Coach Davis is a very good coach that came into a down program. In 10-11 when Steve Wright was coaching they went 12-17 and lost in the first round of districts. That team lost to a couple of the smallest schools in the state, Deming and Augusta. (not knocking Deming or Augusta). Give him a little time and a healthy squad and he will win. The AD and Principal picked a very good candidate to take over the South Laurel program.
  11. Wow! Highlands is really struggling this year.
  12. Aaron Watts left Morehead's baseball team and is now at the University of the Cumberlands playing basketball. Someone asked about CJ Penny earlier in this thread, I'm hearing that he will be going to Asbury University and start playing basketball in January 2012
  13. I heard that he tried to go to Logan, WV but he could not play there due to not having enough or correct academic credits. That may be the same problem here in KY. I believe there is a connection between the coaching staff at Logan, WV and Perry Co Central.
  14. Do you have a clue to what you are talking about? Hicks went to Trinity and he was ruled inelibible and sat out an entire year. Cunningham transferred out of Scott Co. I haven't heard of any transfers go to Scott Co. the last three years. At least no high school transfers that I know of. The transfers three years ago were all ruled ineligible then after the appeal process they were finally ruled eligible by the Board of Controls (the ineligible rulings were directly from Devrees herself, which was totally biased in almost every decision she made while at KHSAA). Also, please tell us who got jobs at Toyota? I would love to know, since you know so much or at least think you do. I wouldn't mind having a job at toyota. Maybe I should take my kids there and get a job.
  15. I too am waiting for that scenario to unfold!
  16. Yeah, that is correct, forgot it was AAU sanctioned event. In NCAA Certified events, unsigned seniors can play in the U17 division.
  17. If he is an unsigned senior, he can still play U17
  18. Man, get over it. Why single out someone that made the team? Maybe Gilbert out-played the players that did not make the team? Could that be a possibility? Or did Gilbert have a skillset that the coaches felt they needed? Congratualtions to all the boys that made the team and to those that didn't, I commend your effort. I'm sure some of the kids that didn't try out probably felt that they had nothing to gain except a lot of criticizsm from the so called "experts" on this site and other similar sites if they don't perform up to everyone's expectations.
  19. Congratulations to Rowan Co. but, 32 POINTS?
  20. You're probably right, the way I figure it, they could have only won 9 games the entire regular season before districts started.
  21. I agree, very few if any other high schools in this area play that style of ball.
  22. That's just NKY basketball and the way it always has been. They usually walk the ball up the court and run a half court set. Play man to man and very seldom press. Very unimaginative basketball. That's why when teams from NKY go to Louisville or Central KY, they usually get beat. They need to change with the times, if they don't, they will continue to get beat when they leave the "safe place" they call NKY. Holmes has been the only exception recently because they had the athletes with well above average basketball skills. Just look at some of the final scores in the past and recent regional tournaments, scoring in the 20"s, 30's & 40's. You don't see scores that low anywhere else in the state. Playing the trapping defenses and press defenses and being effective ususally takes years of practice and the lower level (ie middle school) teams run the same system as the high school. From what I've seen NKY, very few high school coaches are involved with pre high school programs.
