Birds led 15-9, Holmes went on a 24-2 run and never looked back.

Thanks again Walter

Rice led all scorers with 23..

Birds jump out to 12-6 lead and then the wheels fell off.

Rice was too much for em.

Witte and Houliston both looked pretty good tonight for the Birds.

Towles struggled against the trio of Rice, Englemon, and Knox.

Holmes 15 18 18 15 66

Highlands 15 6 7 17 45

Highlands (7-13) -- Towles 10, Lewis 5, Turner 4, Houliston 11, Witte 12, Hergott 3.

Holmes (18-5) -- Coston 6, Palmer 9, Rice 25, Knox 3, Lewis 4, Martin 12, Englemon 7.

Rice had to have had close to 10 rbs with those 25 points. He was everywhere at both ends.

He had a pretty nice two hand dunk over a defender too...kid is freakishly athletic. When he went one on one at the top of the key with a defender it was either an automatic bucket or trip to the free throw line. Really like the way he is stepping up and trying to take over.

On the other side, Houliston and Witte are gonna be one heck of a duo next year Q.

Witte showed a nice touch from outside and even impressed me with his defense on Bolden. He is one of the few players I've seen stay in from of the talented Frosh and not get crossed.

Houliston impresses me every time I see him. Why he isn't starting is amazing. Very talented athlete that simply knows how to score.

For Holmes, Lewis and Bolden continue to get better and give good minutes along with Waller defensively. Englemon is also playing much better while Knox battles injuries.

So why was Knox not with the team for a few games recently? I was told he wasn't "with the team."

Battling injuries.........same reason he hasn't started the past two games.......

Rice's ability to elevate is his Best quality. Numerous times he would drive and float 5-6 feet away and drain the Shot because of this.

Holmes is a very good shooting team overall. Martin buried a couple deep 3's and Palmer as well. I think Holmes has the talent to win the Region, whether or not They can string 3 wins in a row together is another thing.

Ask around.

Ask around.

Don't need to...I know why he wasn't with the team and it has nothing to do with this thread.

Wow, Highlands used to be competitive year in and year out, what has happend to their program the past few years?

It's called Football and just a lack of overall talent. However they have reached the Regional tourney 3 out of the last 4 years and won at least 14 games each year.

2008/9 - 21-9. District champ and Lost in Regional final four

2009/10. - 14-10 lost in first round of District to NCC.

2010/11 - 14-16 District runner up and lost to eventual Region Champ Dixie in 1st round of Region. (key injuries to Stewart and Crowley probably costs them 4-5 wins IMO)

2011/12 - 7-14 currently and it's been a struggle thus far but they have played some very good teams tough. They had Brossart down 10 going into 4th and lost by 5, they had a chance to beat NCC on the road as well losing by 3. The football excuse was legit through December and early Jan but not anymore.
