Conner Crowley returned to the Highlands lineup while Sr Jack Stewart sat out. Crowley had atleast 16 including 3 treys. Pat Towles was sick, played but struggled and looked lethargic.

 

LC led 27 - 21 at the half. Sr Zack Hill had a couple treys in the 1st qtr and was very tough. Im guessing he had atleast 25.

 

The Birds fullcourt press brought them to within 6 late in the 3rd but an offensive putback by LC, Bird turnover and old fashion 3 pt play extended the Patriot lead to 11. The Birds would get no closer than the final score.

 

LC will play Franklin Co tomorrow night and Highlands will play Conner at 3:45PM. Jack Stewart is expected to be back.

Highlands might get their second win of the season with the way Conner has been playing. Conner is definitely the most disappointing team in NKY with with what they return from last year.

Someone that watched their loss to Franklin Co said they dont have anyone who can handle the ball. I hope you are right as the Birds need a win bad. Even though Stew is back today they may not have 6'5 Towles who is battling sickness I have never seen a team suffer the bad luck that Highlands has suffered with injuries these last couple years December shouldnt mean anything except getting the kinks out with as many games you can play. One other note, Coach Flynn utilized his bench early and often with some sophs and Frosh True so that will help later in the season.

I am not sure, maybe #33. There were only two 6'5 kids dressed and one was #50 Frosh Nick True. Towles had the burr haircut. He didnt play well at all and it was mainly due to sickness. He has nice talent and has shown glimpses of how good he can be but you also gotta remember, he has had less than 10 practices and it was only 2 weeks ago he was scoring 5 TD's in the first half at QB for the Birds in the State Final win over Christian County.

33. From what I heard he was struggling with sickness all night. In true gridiron form, he probably shouldn't have played but gutted it out to help the team. For his sake I hope he takes a few days off to get well.

Yea, they had to pull off the road on the way home so I wouldnt expect him to play today or quite possibly the rest of the week. They have the Ashland Invitational next week so maybe then we will FINALLY see the full Bluebird Compliment in Stewart, Towles, Crowley, Dean and Egan as starters.

Thanks. I wish I had known before hand that Towles played basketball. I would have came to the earlier. He and #50 both have nice size and I guess if Towles was healthy he would have done more damage down low. I look forward to seeing him on the gridiron in week 0. Good luck the rest of the year.

None to be found but I do know the following for Highlands. Crowley had 16, Lewis 5, Egan 2, Witte 3, Turner 3, True 2, Towles, 8, Dean 13. Unofficial though.

 

Lincoln Co- Z. Hill had 33 and Luke Hill had 12 I believe. They had a kid named Micah Ward that was lanky and could leap, he got a steal at halfcourt and threw it down. It wasnt a highlight dunk in fact he barely got it to go but still nice athletic move.
