  1. NO WAY, NO HOW. Bobby will retire from Male (of course he may still have 20 years still left in him  ). He had the best frosh team he has ever had, is best friends with the AD, (Bob Stewart) and has 100% control over what he does and how he does it. He won't leave that behind.
  2. I think that programs that have success with spread systems definitely have to have quality coaching. Route running, catching the ball, timing, reading coverage, understanding protections, etc. All factor into their success. Teams who primarily run the ball look at fronts/stunts and limited coverages. I can tell you by looking at Clay's numbers that they are doing something right. Great job!
  3. Sounds you have the inside track. Elaborate and we will all be "in the know"! Jobs in JCPS are posted for at least 2 weeks. I will be late February by the time the posting is over, interviews, approval of hire, and announcement.
  4. Football is staying put in their current locker room. I have also been informed that the weight room will remain in the basement of the Driscoll building.
  5. IMO, the CJ declares the "misfortunes" of former local football coaches (either HS or college) newsworthy on regular basis. If you read the "Notebook" section during the college football season written by Jody Demling, he often takes shots at Hal Mumme, Guy Morris, and John L. Smith. Taking shots might be overstating, but trust me he never seems to fit them into print when they do something right. For some reason he feels like local readers want to hear that stuff. I really hate to hear this for Coach Wright. It brings up a statement that a great coaching friend of mine told me years ago in regards to jobs and the lure of "better" jobs. "Sometimes there is NO better job than the one you've got!!"
  6. Where is Barbourville? Do they not have football?
  7. Good man and a good school. I hope that it works out for the both of them. They really seemed to do some good things in the past three seasons.
  8. IMO, coaching success is doing the most with what you have and not necessarily measured with wins/losses and trophies. I would say that Chuck Smith certainly did that better than anyone over a relatively short period of time (10 or 11 years). I would say that Mike Glaser has done the most with what he has been provided over a longer period of time (24 years) than any other coach. I think most folks think that St. X has always had amazing facilities and resources. That is not totally true. His longivity in that high profile job also says an awful lot about him.
  9. After last night, I would rank . . . 1 - Trinity 2 - Male 3 - St. X 4 - Henry Clay I would say the Ryle would fall in the 8 - 10 ballpark. They district in the N. KY really benefitted from this year's "blind" draw!
  10. Congratulations to the young men and coaching staffs on both sides. Last night will certainly be one that both groups will remember forever. I am so impressed with the way Trinity goes about their business. They play hard, with class, and are extremely well coached. Coach Beatty has done super things at Trinity and his record speaks for itself. I think the some of his assistants deserve much credit. Coach Coverdale, Coach Bean, Coach Kahlbin (pre-retired) etc. Great Job Rocks! Enjoy some well deserved time off! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
  11. It was actually on WHAS 11. It was also mentioned by another gentleman on the news and I made the same comment. Coach Beatty didn't have much of a poker face when asked that question. (If this would be his last season at Trinity.)
  12. Link to article in Courier Journal in Thursday 11-30-2006. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=SPORTS Coach Beatty is pretty candid in this article. He shares some very interesting facts.
  13. Classy LSURock, very classy. The kids on these teams will have a great experience. Don't try to lessen the value of it because Trinity is not involved. Trinity has a top-notch program with top-notch kids and coaches. It is comments like this that fuel some of the heated discussions that go on. Best of luck against Henry Clay. Good luck to all of the kids this week!
  14. Male's players do not play based on the lack of communication from THEIR head coach. Every 1st team all-district player is guaranteed a spot on the roster. I would call Coach Redman himself and ask this question. If Male doesn't have any kids playing I would hope that he can tell you why. Trust me, the reason is NOT that they are not allowed.
  15. 1st Team All-District players are guaranteed a spot on the their team. The coaches of the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association voted on Nov. 6th out at Holy Cross. Dave Weston of Holy Cross and Nate Jones of South Oldham will be the two head coaches this year. Each team has a 43 man roster. Yes, teams that are still playing obviously cannot send their kids to play. Those kids are honored at halftime of the following year's game.
  16. This job has already been filled from within. Coach Danny English will be the new Head Coach. Coach Stafford announced he would not return early this season (if not before), and the school went ahead and named his successor. Coach English was on staff this season working with the Freshmen and JV programs.
  17. Still do. The coaches voted this Monday. The All-district teams should be in CJ in the next couple of weeks. The annual East-West All Star game will be played the day after Thanksgiving.

  19. The Article from News Enterprise in Elizabethtown: PREP FOOTBALL: Central Hardin's Bauer resigns By CHUCK JONES Friday, November 3, 2006 12:22 AM CST CECILIA n Central Hardin High School football coach Chris Bauer has resigned after being at the helm of the program for the last five years. Bauer, who has been with the program since 1992, compiled a 15-36 record in his tenure. Last season, he guided the Bruins to their first playoff appearance since 1999. Central Hardin lost in the first round to traditional power Louisville St. Xavier. “I’ve been blessed to coach a lot of great young men,” Bauer said. “These young men are going to make great husbands and fathers. I’ve also been fortunate to work with a lot of good coaches. It was a hard decision to make. There may not be a bigger fan of Central Hardin football, but it was time.” Bauer cited the players as one of the main reasons he decided to step down at this time. “I want what’s best for the kids,” Bauer said. “I feel like the program is in a good spot. There are a lot of things in place for the next coach. The one thing I know is those young men are going to be successful.” WE NEED A LINK TO THE REST OF THE STORY
  20. Todd Walsh of St. X Jeff Bowles of Bullitt East Chad Lewis of John Hardin Terry Bean of Trinity Jerry Lucas of Shelby County ** All of these guys do a wonderfull job!!
  21. I would have to agree with you. Doss has really proved that they are a contender in the final stretch of the season. North has been a solid group all year. I say both teams win in close ball games and set up a North Bullitt-Doss rematch for the District crown.
