  1. Bullitt East must feel pretty good about what they have coming back. I give them props for creating a pretty darn tough AAAA schedule. Their running attack is tough as long as they are at least equal to their opponent up front. If they face a talented defensive line and cannot generate movement (it looks as though they are going to see some pretty darn good def. fronts), they struggle to operate offensively. Curious to see if they diversify any offensively or just keep with their basic split back veer. I would think that they could GREATLY help themselves by being able to throw the ball to the middle of the field and getting folks to honor different formations (to get defenders out of the box) Many of these new opponents are going to be in a different league than those within their former district, where they could get +/- 7 wins with a very average football team. When all is said and done in '07, those final three games will factor heavily in the playoff success or lackthereof. Larue, Manual, Nelson will be a pretty tough road . . . especially since Larue follows their most emotional game vs. North Bullitt and an open date. Best of luck to Bullitt East. I predict 6-4, but the Chargers could make a very deep run in AAAA. It seems that AAAA may very well be the class to be in with the new alignment.
  2. Lawson has too much character to ever do that to Central Hardin. He has done a great job every place he has been, but there is NO way he leaves a new job only months after taking it. Coverdale let it be known when he left Castle that he loves coaching football, but wasn't too in love with being a head coach. The only job he would take is Trinity. I think that it is a foregone conclusion that we will take over for Beatty when he does leave. IMO, Duffer has done a great disservice to the Henderson Co. community (all other issues aside) by waiting so long for this move. It REALLY puts the kids, school, and new coach under an incredible time crunch. Best of luck to the kids and adminstration who will have to clean this mess up.
  3. That's way high school football is the greatest sport of 'em all!! Great job to the Bluebirds!
  4. That's a stretch. He is a very solid HS Free Safety who loves to hit. His range is limited and his agressiveness can be a negative as he bites up and is apt to get burned deep. Quality player who will play at the next level, probably in a DIII school, but IMO, not a top 26 player in KY.
  5. :thumb: I like posting a question and later answering it yourself!
  6. Jason Hawkins has resigned. He is returning to Indiana to finish the school year.
  7. Coach J, I applaude your candor and willingness to be so open with the members here and within your community. I think a lot of HS coaches could learn some valuable things from that. Sounds like some great things are going on in your program. Best of luck and keep it up! :thumb:
  8. Does Coach Todd have younger son that will soon be in high school?? I do know that he was the offensive coordinator during Brett Burnett's last three seasons. He is the man who really knew and handled the "Air Raid" offense there. Coach Burnett called the defense.
  9. You're not comparing apples with apples. Fern Creek isn't even close to the same school and situation as when Russ Gibson was the head coach there. He was allowed to recruit and get in any kid he wanted. Are you aware with the character of players that he won with and the situation he left behind? Wins and Loses doesn't always paint an accurate picture. I don't disagree that Fern Creek could, or even currently isn't, a good job. My point is that programs in Louisville don't get the support or backing as programs out in the state. There are only 2-3 exceptions to this.
  10. Yes the same Bauer. He resigned from Central Hardin in November.
  11. Chris Bauer is the new Head Coach at Waggener. :dancingpa He will meet the players tomorrow or Thursday. He was in the building with the principal and AD today. I also heard that he met with former HC, Willie Foster. Best of luck to Coach Bauer and the Wildcats!
  12. I'll take a good job out in the state anytime over a middle of the road program in Louisville. He will have very little financial assistance, help with getting staff into the building, and will play most of his games in stadiums that are 1/3 full. The public schools in Jeff. Co. are the land of the haves and have nots. The last time time I check there are only two maybe three haves and Fern Creek wasn't one of them. Best of luck to Coach Higgins. I hope that grass is as green as it appears to be!!:thumb:
  13. I think the biggest thing for Nelson at this point is to continue to regain their swagger. :walk: This program could be a giant (and has been!). I think that have the right leader to get the job done. I would agree with Hearsay about the passing attack. The option attack is a beautiful thing, but you have to keep people honest and must find a way to limit the number of defenders in the box and there is no better way to do that than throwing the ball with some success. The defensive side of the ball will be the Cardinals greatest improvement in 07. The 50 angle that Coach Bruner installed is tough and was dramatically different than the 4-4 look that had been ran there before he arrived. The depth, which brings competition, and the extra year to learn and adapt to the techniques will make a world of difference. Best of luck to the Cards!
  14. That's a good one. No they haven't publized at all . . . Look at their website, they have a whole video. Put pics up every couple of weeks on their website. They have a full-blown campaign for "Project X". The people at X have done a GREAT job and will have an "unequaled" facility this fall!!
  15. This should be a model to follow for staff continuity and building a program. Get great asst coaches IN THE BUILDING and promote from within! Congrats to Coach Clark and the Tiger players!
  16. This will go down as the worst kept secret in HC hirings this year. Curtis Higgins will be the new HC at Fern Creek. Should be official late next week.
  17. I guess this is a questions for someone who gets to see this team on a regular basis: Does E-town have the same caliber of athletes that it did when Brett Burnett left? E-town seems to be one of those schools that is always in the mix. The new six class system could be very good to them.
  18. Great to hear for Coach Downs. I have always respected him and the way he has ran his program. He broke "RULE #1" for head coaches. (Never follow a legend - Garnis Martin) I think he is a master at making the most with what he has. Which IMHO is BEST indicator of success. His teams have won with power, Wing-T, to spread offense (and I think back to Wing-T) and the 50, Male's Confusion, and 3-3-5 defenses. No matter what they did, they were disciplined and well prepared. That does not happen on accident. More importantly, Coach Downs gave the school consistancy. He stayed put did his job in the up and down years. He is a class act!! Best of luck to Bardstown and the new man. (Who will also tempt the fate of "RULE #1" - NEVER FOLLOW A LEGEND!)
  19. Joe Nichols would be a much better hire than Higgins. TigerKat, you must really have an inside track?!?!?
  20. An employee in a Kentucky school is not allowed to have ANY relative in a position of evaluation for hire/rehire. Ky's nepotism law does not allow it.
  21. I think he is a candidate everywhere. He must have one top notch agent.
  22. Wow, Coach Higgins has been offered every job that has opened this year. Marshall, Henderson (which is not even open), Fern Creek, Male, and I am sure more will be named later. If he is in such high demand in Jefferson Co. why did he have to go to Trigg to land a HC job? :sssh: I am sure your picking up my sarcasm, because I am laying it on pretty thick! Fern Creek must land a good one this time. They need stability pretty badly. I really hate this for their players. This has to feel like groundhog day for them. (Pun intended)
