Isn't Whitaker (former Leslie Co/Tim Couch coach) still in the hunt ?

Mike Whitaker was at Powell Co. on the 27th. He was shown the facilities, the town, and met with the team. He also was at the Hazard/Powell game last night. Putting two and two together, it looks like they may be on their way to finding a coach.

Heard that his wife was a principal and there is now a principal opening at Powell. Will his wife hire him to be the head coach?

The job will be open again in 2 years, like it has been there forever. "Git rid" of the coach, but never the administration!

His wife is the current interim Asst. Principal at Hopkinsville High School. She was the Asst. Principal at Hoptown in 01-04 before being moved to another position in the school system by the board.

 

His wife is a nice hardworking person that is respected by the kids and co-workers at Hopkinsville High School.

An employee in a Kentucky school is not allowed to have ANY relative in a position of evaluation for hire/rehire. Ky's nepotism law does not allow it.

What's the latest on this situation?

 

Whitaker has been a no show at the Christian Co. weightroom workouts since December. There's been little to no contact with him and any of his assistants. A few of the assistants could possibly be leaving for other schools.

Christian Co. expected him to be gone after this year. Whitaker made that obvious with his lack of interest in their weight program this year and with his comments.

Whitaker is a good hire. Can he turn that program around? What kind of talent do they have coming back?
