Sources say it is indeed Fairhope High near Mobile that he is going to. 31-7 was his record at Henderson.

Not related to Duffer resigning but Phil Gibson, the head basketball coach, resigned as well.

Did he (Gibson) resign today as well? Also I seem to recall Gibson had a son that was quite a good basketball player. Did his son go on to play college ball?

Yes, Gibson resigned today. His son did or still is playing college ball but I just can't remember where.

No official word here on that. Cart b4 the horse here.

If it is the cart B4 the horse then you need to call Lance Wilkerson at channel 25. They reported it just before they reported Duffer resigning.

To get back on topic, it will be interesting to see who Henderson will hire.

Duffer Duffy resigned Wednesday, ending a successful and controversial run as Henderson County's football coach.

Duffy said that he has accepted another coaching job as an offensive coordinator at a school in Alabama but was not at liberty to release the name of the school pending board approval.

Wonder if Gordon Powers (former coach at Owensboro), now coaching in Georgia would be a good candidate.

I was told several months ago that if/when Duffy left Henderson, there were two candidates that would draw some interest ... Andrew Coverdale and Mike Lawson.

Henderson's administration knows Coverdale from his time at Castle, an Indiana school that has been on Henderson's schedule the last few years. Would Coverdale be interested? He''s back at Trinity, supposedly with the promise that he will be the head coach when Bob Beatty leaves.

Lawson ... don't know if he would entertain the idea, since he was hired at Central Hardin a few months ago. Lawson is familiar with the area from his time at Owensboro Catholic, and his success there and Marshall County really impressed some Henderson people.

Lawson has too much character to ever do that to Central Hardin. He has done a great job every place he has been, but there is NO way he leaves a new job only months after taking it. Coverdale let it be known when he left Castle that he loves coaching football, but wasn't too in love with being a head coach. The only job he would take is Trinity. I think that it is a foregone conclusion that we will take over for Beatty when he does leave.

IMO, Duffer has done a great disservice to the Henderson Co. community (all other issues aside) by waiting so long for this move. It REALLY puts the kids, school, and new coach under an incredible time crunch. Best of luck to the kids and adminstration who will have to clean this mess up.
