I think you would have to ask Duffer that question.

If this job had of come open in January, They could have gotten just about anybody that they wanted. This late, it is going to be difficult. I would say both Lawson and Coverdale are out of the picture because of timing. It will be interesting.

Alot of people just don't like to talk about the incident last summer, it is a very shady subject. Duffy leaving is probably the best for him as well as Henderson.

I believe it has to do with several issues and not just the one incident. The insensitivity and cruelty of some in the community toward his family played a major factor. I wish Duffer and his family well and hope this move will help them.

Duffer was looking to leave last year. He is a quality coach and person in my opinion. I truly believe that he cared for his players. It is unfortunate what happened to Ryan Owens. I feel for his family and friends. I am sure that it affected Duffer tremendously. He did a good job holding the team together last year.

As far as someone suggested in an earlier post that he waited too long and should have resigned earlier, the man has a family to support! He left when he had another job secured. Whether you like him or not, he is leaving.

Henderson County needs to look forward and find the right person for the job. It will be a very difficult job. The board of ed. is setting up very tight procedures that most quality coaches won't go for. A typical administrational reaction in light of everything that has happened. An example will be that all practices will be presented and OK'ed through the AD before you can practice. Most coaches like calling their on everyday shots. It will be a tough job until everything settles.

The next coach is going to have a mess on his hands. His first team will be the most inexperienced team in the state if he chooses to only play a few players both ways.

 

1) We graduated some good players. If the coach does not play many players both ways that would almost double the players we graduated because he will be replacing two positions for almost every player we lost.

2) If we have numbers around 60+, that will be an additional 20 or 30 guys without varsity experience.
