  1. You have to feel for all the folks involved in this game. St. X is competing and trying to win a state championship and certainly doesn't have to concerns themselves with not scoring very often, but it is tough. Coach Lucas has struggled greatly at Butler. I am a believer that if high school coaches do the right thing, do a good job in the classroom, and treat kids right they will not have to worry about their job. But, IMO Butler REALLY needs to be more competitive than they currently are. They get a good draw of players and have a great school and community. . . I just don't see how they aren't better than they are. Best of luck to both teams the rest of the way.
  2. I will have to differ with you BIG time on that one. I have seen many a "If they don't score... " shirts worn by BE players. I have yet to see a motivational saying on one of them. IMO any shirt that is distributed to players / parents to wear in the school or community that rubs in a final score in a sarcastic way (especially over a struggling program - i.e. - Atherton 80-0) is absolutely both "arrogant" and "classless". I feel that it goes against what high school kids should learn and take from their time and commitment. I wish both teams the best. This is a big game with a lot on the line.
  3. What is South Oldham's record? They have slid back a bit???
  4. I am a believer that all things will come come back to you good or bad. . . The way Bullitt East has treated oppenents, especially county rivals, the arrogant and classless shutout t-shirts, student section at the end of the field, etc. could really come back and bite them in the behind on Thursday night. This is a game no amount of excuses in the world can help. Rival game and district game. North wins, but not as big as some may think!!
  5. Fairdale cleared a huge mental hurdle beating the Chargers last year and have a definite swagger with the way that they have came out of the gates this year. But, Mt. Washington is a tough place to play you have to be a much better team to go in there a take a win. I can't believe the Chargers will let this one get away. The next two weeks are HUGE for them. Bullitt East 21 - Fairdale 20
  6. Most teams in KY have played their fifth game. . . (For obvious reasons I will not vote for myself! LOL ) What coach(s) would you give a Coach of Year vote to at this point in the season?? Two come to mind for me: 1. Curtis Higgins - Fern Creek 2. Scott Carmony - Jeffersontown **Both these guys are doing a great job with what they have.
  7. Bullitt East got their secong "L" due to a silly in what should be a special teams situation. Faked a punt in a rediculous spot against Woodford and went for 2 at the end of regulation against Marion instead kicking a p.a.t. As I said earlier in the year, this is not their old district where they can get away with that type of football. Great job to Marion Co. who is 5-0. The game against North Bullitt is now huge. The winner puts themself in a much better position as far as first round opponent and second round home game.
  8. Great point. I think that X and T have done a nice job of making every kid feel as if they are part of a "Friday Night". Even if that game is on a Monday or Thursday!! Many coaches dismiss the importance of JV/Frosh and focus only on Friday nights.
  9. I had a chance to ask their AD about their schedule and he stated that essentially no teams in AAA or AAAA would play them. Bullitt East and Western are obviously exceptions. I think most coaches and AD's might schedule one or two of these teams on A GREAT year, but their top to bottom schedule may be the toughest that I have ever seen. **They could be anywhere from 3-7 to 5-5 and be the best team in AAA!
  10. The Board of Control decided to revisit the current alignment in 2 years. Before that they had decided to realign every 4 years to prevent so much shifting. But with the drastic change from four classes to six, they felt best to revisit after two years.
  11. It's great to see Manual playing some different schools (they probably are too excited), but it is good the Jefferson County schools play schools out in the state!! Manual will win based on talent, but they better get Henderson Co. this year. I am sure Coach Clevenger will have the Colonels ready in a year or so!!
  12. Extremely tough to predict this one. I gave Ballard the nod based on their performance against X and big win over PRP. Obviously, when the pigskin is tee'd up this week neither of those games will make a hill of beans difference. Best of luck to both teams, should be a good one!!
  13. This could be Butler's longest year that they have had in a while. They are really down, which is a same. Trinity ROLLS 56-0.
  14. PRP has had a good bit of hype. Were the Irish that good, or did PRP just lay an egg on their first outing?? Anyone make this trip?? Looks like PRP has two very winable games up.
  15. Good football game. Waggener struggled with the heat and had WAY too many kids cramp up. Franklin Co. really operated well and seemed able to move the ball fairly easy. The QB struggle to hit receivers on time, especially on the crossing routes. Waggener will be fine. The have a nice scheme that will give some folks trouble. Fairly well played by both teams. Best of luck to the Flyers and Wildcats!!
  16. Not a very fair way to assess a coach. Coach Scroggins fielded competitive teams that were well coached. He certainly got some capable athletes, he tended to lack the size need to make a serious run in the OLD AAA.
  17. The edge will go to the team that can be the most "sound" in all three phases of the game. I would certainly give that edge to Manual at this point in the season. Hardest week 1 game to call IMO. Best guess - Manual 28 - Central 13
  18. Coach Yeagle is a great coach and a greater person. Its great to see him back into coaching. In time Lloyd WILL bring home a title.
  19. This could be as U G L Y as Coach Glaser chooses !! :irked: Tigers 35 / Bruins 7
  20. Does Mercer and Danville not play in the regular season this year??
  21. That is also what I heard . . . which would make them have one scrimmage too many and one more this Friday vs. PRP?? Just a little confused . . .
  22. I think that they fight the same thing many teams in Jefferson County fight. Simply getting over the mental hump. There have been very few public schools that have been able to do so. You can see the air come out of their sails when a the first bad break or two happens. PRP's bark has rarely been as bad as their bite. They still run the Wing T, which will be tough business with their schedule.
  23. mh, Who are the two opponents for Bullitt East's two scrimmages? Did they scrimmage at camp?
  24. Wasn't he (Damron) the HC at Kentucy Christian Univ?? Were they set to begin this fall??
