LSURock
I read something a few weeks ago that Will Wolfford and the Louisville Fire were going to sponsor an All-Star game the day after Thanksgiving. Does anyone know anything about this? Where? When? Who?

tcjkbt
It makes sense to play it right after the season while the players are still in football shape. I wonder if those who play basketball will play. How are the kids selected?
Xgrad-JAGdad
I would think we'd see some rosters soon... or will kids just show up and they will pick teams? (ha ha) I'd pick Beaumont.... how about you?
LSURock
Even without any Trinity or Central kids there should be some great talent on the field. Where is the dividing line. Are X and Male on the same team? I've heard quite a bit about the talented kids from Western, will they be there? I'll be there, but I may have to leave a little early.:thumb:

Oldham for the East. Don't know what other teams and how they are divided just yet. The organizers have contacted 40 some colleges and numerous media outlets to get word out for the boys that were selected to play. One more chance to 'strap em up' and play on the high school field. This is a nice reward to be acknowledged for all their hard work all season and a chance to show the college coaches that they can play at the next level. Congratulations to the boys selected. No injuries. Play hard. Have fun.
CharlieWeis
1st Team All-District players are guaranteed a spot on the their team. The coaches of the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association voted on Nov. 6th out at Holy Cross. Dave Weston of Holy Cross and Nate Jones of South Oldham will be the two head coaches this year. Each team has a 43 man roster. Yes, teams that are still playing obviously cannot send their kids to play. Those kids are honored at halftime of the following year's game. TigerDude13
Look for the roster/-all-district winners to be posted in the CJ sometime this week. I know that the players found out last week from their respective coaches so naturally, I would expect the list to be out this week. Then again, the way the CJ works, I wouldnt be surprised if it came out on Friday along with all of the other 1-page HS Football "hoopla" that it prints on Fridays. No offense, but i still think the CJ still hasnt gotten it when it comes to HS coverage.

EastSideJunkie
It's still beyond me why this game would be played on the same day as the state semifinals. Yes, kids are still in shape and all but it's just bad. I made the point last year and stand by it again. Take Central for example. They have 4-5 kids that would benefit a HUGE deal from this game. They have kids who haven't had as much exposure that would likely get some college looks just because of this game. But they get punished and can't play in this All-Star game because they're team is still winning. Maybe it's just me but to have an All-Star game before the season is over is just a bad idea. It's almost like it's played this week because "who cares." I mean does anybody really think it will - or should - get any news coverage in the paper or TV this week when you have the state semifinals going on at the same time? I would be interested to know if any other area in the state has an All-Star game this weekend?
westsider
I would be interested to know if any other area in the state has an All-Star game this weekend? The western coaches' all-star game used to be played on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was scrapped two years ago and replaced by a western Kentucky-southern Illinois all-star game that is played in June.
LSURock
I'm OK with the game being the day after Thanksgiving. It has some drawbacks, sure, but it gains a lot by being played at a time when football is on the minds of everyone. This may be the only All-Star team that you aspire not to be on.
