Even as a Highlands fan, I thought that this coach seemed to do a very good job this past season. But if the rumors are true on here that he didn't like coaching in Kentucky, then I know I'm not the only one willing to buy his gas for his trip back home (that's the nicest way I can put it).

Having turf is much cheaper than the upkeep of grass. Though I do prefer grass for the first couple of weeks, I definately favor the turf towards the end of the season. Personally, the only problem I see with turf is that it has a tendancy to cause more knee problems (usually from the cleats getting stuck in the surface while turning or planting). This might sound kind of dumb, but thinking back, the turf sure did help my allergies rather than practicing on the grass. I could actually breathe a lot easier on the turf at the end of practice compared to when we had grass. Overall, IMO, turf rules over grass.

IMO, a couple of excellent highschool teams could beat below average DII's and DIII's. That's not saying that they could beat the average in those categories though.

Jordan Kramer from Highlands is going to put up some great yardage. Since the Cov. Cath. matchup last season, he has really been putting on some shows. I didn't realize the strength he had to go along with his speed! I'm not saying he will lead the state in rushing yards or touchdowns, because Highlands' offense doesn't call for that. But I will say that he will be one of the best backs in the state, if not the best.

1. Highlands (return their whole line and many skilled defensive players) 2. Lex. Cath. (return some very important skill position players) 3. Cov. Cath. (They seem to keep putting great teams together) 4. Bowling Green (don't know much about them, but heard a couple of good things) 5. Rockcastle (keep putting great schemes together to win games)

Anymore than 4 is too many in my opinion. Especially if 6 classes move into play, that means 6 state championships. So at that point, when someone tells you that they won state, it'd be like... so what... IMO Also, I could see the situation of the same teams winning almost every year becoming much worse with an increase of classes. All that would be doing is giving two more teams an opportunity to potentially dominate the class, year after year. I don't totally disagree that the classes are getting kind of bunched, but I think that the way to answer that would be to distribute some of the teams into different classes with respect to how good their teams are year after year (instead of classifying the schools by size). Though I think it would be a good idea, I don't think any state would try it.

Highlands would have enough kids for a freshman team I believe it has to do with title nine. Not enough girls sports to even out the extra boys sport.

Even as a Highlands fan, I do get a little sick of seeing so much complaining from some of our players. I imagine that was what this technical foul was about. Though I wasn't there, I have seen Tanner mouth off to the refs after what he believes is a bad call. He probably deserved it. I'm sorry to hear that the birds lost this one, but hopefully we improve off of the HC loss and this one, and make a good run at state. They have a lot of heart, hopefully they can keep their intensity up, just as strong as it has been in these last few weeks.

So I guess Guidulgi wouldn't have had any effect on the three big guys? Anyway, I like both of these teams. They seem very similar when you break them down by position. Highlands has looked tough against some pretty good teams lately, so I give them the edge. PC is a very dangerous team though, and can easily go on a 10-0 break. From what I have heard, their players are very conditioned and hardly get worn down at all throughout the game. The birds will have to play "clean" defense so they don't get in foul trouble like they did against holmes. I expect Tanner J to have a big game.

I know, they got off to a bit of a rough start until he got into the game.

He is and average player with an average arm with average bat speed and slow footspeed. There is no place in baseball for favoritism of nepotism. Wonder why Highlands had a change in the coaching staff.

It seemed as though Holmes played a very sloppy first half. Highlands played pretty consistant up until people started fouling out. Vories had a rough game from the field. Tanner had an excellent game as well as Guidulgi. Hill played exceptionally. Jefferson wasn't too much of a factor up until he started shooting free throws. That Arez kid has some jump in him too... The refs were pretty inconsistant and IMO called a rough game. I know it was pretty heated at times, but there were more bad calls than usual for both sides.

Highlands moving down to 2A would be one of the worst decisions in KHSAA history... (right behind two certain transfer court cases )

Is this Jefferson kid from Holmes the same one who is being recruited in football?

I wish I would have been able to play in this HHS vs. Elder Game. Can you imagine the atmosphere? People will be surrounding the sidelines, no one will probably be able to walk anywhere... I hope I am not raising my expectations up too high.

It seems as though they have lots of great athletes. As long as they don't pull most of the athletes from other sports, they should put together a pretty good team. They might even be able to compete at the varsity level in a few years.

I do agree about Holmes being the favorite here. After last years shackling win over Highlands, I can't say that Highlands is the favorite at all.

Personally, even as a Highlands fan, I would take Cov. Cath. over Dixie or Boone any day. Until I see a little bit more from these two teams, I haven't been that impressed.

In Ledney's defense though, it is obvious that there was no infraction. He isn't older than any of the other kids in his grade, I have heard that he had some problems with his grades at Latin, and his family and him wanted to get him back onto the right track. Brigid, in my oppinion should be considering what is best for the kid, in each situation.

Depending on how much Highlands runs him, Jordan Kramer could be a serious contender as we saw towards the end of last season.
