From what I see at the top of the polls, they seem pretty solid to me.

IMO, there are a few other factors (Ahem...publicity...ahem) that go into college offers. Also, it has a lot to do with size. The bigger a player is, usually the more offers he gets. Speed has a lot to do with that too though. Seeing both players, if I had to choose between the two, Beaumont was a much better athlete. But to be honest, they were very similar players from what I saw.

I'm not sure about Trinity ranked below Highlands overall (even as a Highlands fan). Also, Bowling Green is ranked too low in the 3A rankings, I think anyone would agree with me on that.

As far as TD's are concerned, compared to other players, 2 isn't that many IMO. Those don't seem to be stats for a TOP contender, but a contender? Questionable...

I read 219 in the paper...

1. Bowling Green's last two opponents were Warren Central and Logan County... Those don't exactly help out their rankings too much. 2. Highlands was missing their younger stud runningback (Conners) the last two weeks which would have allowed them to go to a two back set, which not only gives them more options, but it also would have given Jordan Kramer a break from running the ball every other play. But I wasn't going to put it out there because teams are missing a few big players due to injuries every game, but not being injury proned is apart of being a good team. 3. Highlands schedules the best teams possible so that even if they lose, they will still be ranked high (and to be as good as possible at the end of the season).

1. Highlands Lost a good battle to a strong St. X 2. Covington Catholic Held down an improving Dixie Team 3. Bowling Green Have the athletes, but have to show the power 4. Louisville Central 3-0 is hard to argue with at this point 5. Franklin County 3-0 again is tough to put them any lower 6. Rockcastle County Always have a solid team, but Harrison scored too many to put them any higher 7. Lexington Catholic Have the athleticism, just needs to do a little more with it. 8. Johnson Central Haven't heard a thing about them, but I have to put them here or else I will get complaints, :lol: 9. Bell County Always a quiet team before playoffs due to strength of schedule, but they tend to be sneaky 10. Ashland Blazer Always seem to be in the mix somewhere

What about Clay Cecil, the QB from Highlands? If we are talking about All Around Players, he runs like a runningback, can throw the ball about 50 yards accurately from his knees, and can also punt a good ball inside the 10 yard line. Not a bad combination, IMO. :thumb:

In this game, Kramer gets 4 TD , Cecil gets 2 on the ground and one in the air to Stein, all by the 3rd quarter... Then depending on how good our JV actually is, we might score again. (I'm guessing not though) Highlands 49 PSW 0

Doesn't Pendelton still have another year before they can even compete for a championship? Anyway, I don't even know anything about Galltain or Owen, but Pendelton and Grant have a tough time competing with the more powerful programs like HHS, Cov. Cath., Dixie, Ryle, Campbell Co, etc. That is most likely why they don't have any players on the all-star team, not as much as their location (IMO).

Old Camel and New Bird will be there.... :thumb: Can't wait!

For the last couple of years, this has not been the case. In fact, I don't remember a team overpowering the birds with size and strength in quite a while.

Highlands 35 Dixie 10 (score on jv in the 4th)

First of all, you just named probably the top 4 most populated states (excluding California) when it comes to high school football. It is obviously shown by them that 4 divisions are the way to go. Even 5 might be ok, but personally, 6 is just way too many. I agree that many of the schools feel like they don't have a fair chance to compete with the other schools in their division. With a lot of the smaller schools, this is the case. But I can't say that there are too many larger schools complaining about it. Think of some of the larger schools who continue playing even though they had a few rough seasons every now and then...schools like Campbell Co, Scott, Grant Co, Franklin co, Simon Kenton, Boone Co... Recently some of these schools have made a large improvement and some haven't. And of course they have trouble competing with the 3A and 4A schools sometimes. Thats why when the underdog makes a run in the playoffs, everyone jumps behind them. Everyone loves a good upset. It almost seems like everyone is trying to make these schools equal with one another. By spreading the teams out and making more championships available, they will somehow feel like all their work has paid off when they win one. But if I were still playing and won a championship, I would almost feel as though I had cheated myself out of working hard enough. "I just won a state championship..." "Yeah, who cares, so did the other 5 schools" I may sound like I am coming down a little rough, which is not my intention. I just feel as though things are pretty good as they stand right now. I am sorry that not everyone can have programs like BWood, NCC, Danville, Cov. Cath, Highlands, Trinity, X, and Male; but it takes many years of hard work and determination to build these up. I believe with the right coaches and the right players who also have this determination to succeed to their fullest potential, any school could eventually become a state contender, year after year.

I can understand lex cath and bowling green, but I just don't think Boyle has done enough since the Smith's left to be placed above Highlands or maybe even Hopkins...

I appologise, Abel is gone, but last year's starting TE, Scott Wise was moved over to replace the position.

I'm not really sure where they lack in size, but from what I can see, where they lack in size, they make up for it big time with speed. In most cases, I would take speed over size anyway. The juniors who are playing this year are mostly the ones who started last year. Highlands returns a lot of starters, including the whole offensive line and speedster runningback.

How about this... 1. Highlands 2. Lex Cath 3. Bowling Green 4. Cov. Cath. 5. Rockcastle 6. Bell Co. 7. Hopkinsville 8. Ashland 9. Franklin Co. 10. South Oldham (going out on a limb here)

I think I would rather take a 4 year winning streak vs. Cov. Cath. than a second year of a new system's benefits.

The only way I can think of that Cov. Cath. can take Highlands in this match up is if they can stop Jordan Kramer. He hurt them pretty bad last season with his speed and athleticism and he returns with another year of experience and training under his belt. Even though Cov. Cath. does return some good players, Highlands returns more. This includes the whole offensive line, which should definately help. I respect both of these teams in the upcoming season.

Wow, I don't think it would even be fair to not put Highlands in that 4A class.

Anything is better than there was these past few years... But yes, I am very happy with the job he has done this year. Even in the rebuilding stage he managed to win a few games that were unexpected. :thumb:

You know, not only will the purchasing of great equipment increase the safety of the players, I bet it gives them a big boost too when they strap on those pads and helmets. I know I would feel pretty eager to put that new equipment to good use during practice. Maybe that is Dale's secret... :eek: :sssh:
