How will these two teams compare this year? Who will win the district, and why?

I predict that the one who wins the last game of the regualr season, will win the district.;)

We're talking about two of the top teams in the state in 3A. Anybody who has a diffinitive answer to this one is a true homer.

Nothing wrong with that either, I'm picking the Birds myself, and I am a homer of another color.

What do both teams have coming back for this upcoming season?

What do both teams have coming back for this upcoming season?

The birds played mostly sophmores and juniors last year. Needless to say they have a ton coming back. The freshman team went undefeated again and had some pretty impressive athletes as well. I personally think they will be better than they were last year. GO BIRDS!!!!!!!!

What do both teams have coming back for this upcoming season?

CovCath returns two Division 1 caliber WRs (Pete Sutton and Kurt Bovard), two two-year starters at CB (Joseph Casanada and Brandon Brown), four linebackers including 3-year starter Sam Flynn with Will Geisen, Brent Buckley, and Patrick Hayden. They also return defensive lineman Cory Reilly, offensive linemen Nate Kater and Nick Hudepohl, and Josh Blesser, the best punter in the region. Two other players that will figure into the offense somehow are Alex Wise and Jace Ganshirt.

Some positions where key players graduated, and their replacements.....

QB Josh Blesser (replaces Drew Ellison)

S Kyle Furnish (replaces Brett Sutton)

K Shane Popham (replaces Tony Roch)

RBs Brandon Brown, Brent Buckley, Joe Casanada (replace Nick Buckley and Joe Smith)

CCH's success will hinge on line play. If they can find the guys to fill in for the graduates, they will go far. Their skill positions on both sides of the ball are very good.

I'll agree with that , the key for them is how well they do on the line ! Who do they have coming back or stepping up this year ?

Junior Tyler Lutz and Sophomore Will Deters are also in the mix at RB. Ganshirt and Wise are still being shuffled around with other skill players, but Ganshirt is currently the replacement for Andrew Kenner who graduated, and Wise the replacement for the spot Ganshirt had last year.

There's one very solid junior O-lineman, Andy Schulte, who will fill one of the vacant spots, and the other O-line spots are still being competed for.

Call me Homer.

Highlands!

Homer!!!!

Andy Schulte needs to be on the D-line.

He's good enough to play either, but IMO he's needed more on the offensive line. I could personally see him getting used sort of like Spradlin did last year playing mostly O-line and some D-line as needed.

Both teams play MONSTER schedules yet again this season. The district champ will be one of these 2. Most likely the one that is less beat up from the brutal pre-district schedule.
