Although very very unlikely to happen I would love it if that's how it worked out. Woolf coaches under Coach Ray for a couple seasons and then takes over. That would be ideal.

:thumb: I have always said that that is the most important factor in all of this. Honestly parents, fans, and alumni are always going to have different opinions on different issues, but what the players think and experience is really what counts. Having played under Brossart two years ago and obviously still being close with the players this year I know what goes on behind the scenes and in the locker room. If someone were to see all of that, both football and non football related, there is no way they couldn't support completely the firing of Brossart.

Third time's the charm? From what I hear he'd be the perfect fit at CovCath.

They may be upset about change, but not that Brossart's gone. I have talked to recently, and by that I mean last week, to the top players in next year's senior class and they all agreed they wanted him gone. I don't know where you're getting your information from but it's just not accurate. Take it from me as a former player who played under Brossart two years ago, X's and O's asside Brossart is not right for CovCath. I think he's a great O line coach, he just didn't handle the role of head coach very well. :thumb::thumb::thumb: You couldn't be more dead on.

I can't imagine that Brossart would be coming back for another season. I can see it getting really ugly if he does.

I honestly don't think this game will be as bad as the Highlands game for one reason. Elder won't want to risk any possible injuries to their starters and will be subbing in backups in the 2nd quarter and go two's for the second half. However, no matter how loyal of a fan you are you cannot think CovCath can compete in this one. I say 40 something to 7. And that 7 comes late in the game.

I agree sources outside the program itself shouldn't affect anything. That is why I think the opinions of the players are what should count the most. They know better than anyone for obvious reasons, and I know very very few players under Brossart this season or last who are satisfied with the staff and the way things are run. And unsatisfied is the kindest way I can describe it. Now somebody find an argument with that.

There has been much debate over whether Dave Brossart is the right fit for CovCath. After two embarrassing losses to rival Highlands the last two games, a losing season last year, and what's looking to be a similar season this year many think it's time for him to go. These discussions usually thread jack threads intended to discuss the CovCath games so I figured it deserved it's own thread so have at it.

Yes, I do. I think OG asked this question to Highlands fans after last week's game and I'll repeat it now. Do you think if Dave Brossart was the head football coach at Highlands and Dale Mueller was the head coach at Covington Catholic that the score still would have been 61-0? Do you think John Rodenberg and Jim Hautman would have been embarrassed that bad? No these coaches would have their boys prepared physically and more importantly mentally.

If Brossart had one foot out the door after Highlands is his second foot now going to follow?

The Colonels offense alone will be enough to win this game easily. That being said I hope to see their struggling defense hold Scott to under 10 points to give them a much needed confidence boost.

Although this weeks game will be a tough one for the colonels, it will be a good indicator as to where they are at as far as Kentucky football is concerned. I don't see NCC putting the same hurting on them that mooney did.

I can recall a NewCath team that was destroyed 40-0 and then came back to win a state title. CCH needs to regroup and rebound from last week, and if they can put it behind them I can see this being a good game.

This game means way to much to Colerain, the birds will hang tough in the early going but Colerain will pull away.

How can you say they weren't talented as freshmen. From what I remember they only lost one or two games. The talent is there at CCH. But I will say that teams that are planning to contend for a state title don't lose by 60 points. It all comes down to the coaches getting there team prepared to win games like for example actually giving the team scouting reports. And as far as the defense is concerned, I am completly shocked by there play over the past three weeks. I would have thought they would be the strength of this team. I guess a DC that was a pewee coach pryor to last year just isn't cutting it.

Cardinal Mooney has appreoximatly 320 boys, CovCath has approximatly 500. Coach Brossart needs to give his kids a serious talk about pride. Nothing will be handed to the just because of where they are from. Looks like they need to go back to the fundamentals offensivly and deffensivly.

Covington Catholic Vs. Youngstown Cardinal Mooney should be a good match up in the Herbstreit challenge.

Throw Michael Robinson into the mix and I think they will be every bit as good as last year if not better. Isler will have a great group of recievers to throw to this year.
