I have to admit...this one made me tear up. Wonderful story and what a wonderful lesson this coach taught his kids and his community!

That is really cool.:thumb:

Great story. Sure wasn't what I was expecting. My son thinks I'm losing it . Heard him just tell my wife "Dad's got the tissue box out while he's reading Bluegrasspreps, what's up with that! Don't know but all my boys are going to be reading it in just few seconds.

That is one of the greatest things that I've ever heard or read. Kudos to the community and especially the coach. They mostly likely changed some lives that night. Amazing.

Wonderful story and just proves, there are a lot of good-hearted people everywhere.

I am a grown man and I love these types of stories, even though I get a little misty eyed. If just one of those young men gets out when his time is up and becomes successfull then the game and fans cheering and supporting the opposition is well worth it!:ylsuper:

This is fantastic, thanks for sharing and allowing us to read this. Faith and love can do so much, if we only believe. Thanks

WOW! Great story! It's good to see we still have wonderful warm-hearted people out there...

Just got my vote (like I had one to give) for National Coach of the Year!!

Thank you Guru and moderators for not deleting this thread.

I have asked everybody who insists on buying me a Christmas present to please make a contribution to an orphanage instead of spending their money on me. I have more than I could have ever hoped for, and I hope that each of you feel the same as me.

Please also remember that highschool football has meaning beyond wins and losses.

I guess this article can hit you both ways, while I respect what the opposing coach and fans did, I'm not sure I approve of these guys getting the opportunity to play football...

I don't know...these "guys" are kids that, though they made mistakes, are still kids. If the purpose of their incarceration is to rehabilitate them and get them on the right path, the team mentality of football might do that.

I certainly don't excuse any actions that they took that caused them to end up incarcerated, but if all these boys ever see in their life is negativity (which may or may not be the case, but sounds like it if their families have disowned them) then how do we get them back on track?
