Highlands 49 Southwestern 14

Featured Replies

Birds could of scored a 100 if they wanted to...49-0 at the half and the jv played the entire second half..:ylsuper:

That's about what I expected. Highlands is going to be hard to beat in 3A. Bowling Green would probably be the best matchup in the finals. Of course, we have a long way to go before then.

I picked this one as 56-14 but with Highlands up 49-0 at the half I guess they were kind. How many touchdowns did Highlands throw for and how many interceptions did Southwestern throw? I had a non-monetary wager on that.

Man, Southwestern has had peaks and valleys this season. Obviously, Highlands was going to win this game , but trying to predict outcomes based on prior scores this season is a coin flip. How does Southwestern beat Clark County, who blasted a pretty decent Bryan Station, who demolished an average Madison Southern, who were edged by North Laurel, who taught South Laurel there are 2 halves, who beat Corbin, who took traditional 3A powers Rockcastle and Bell County to the wire, and so on...? Did Highlands pick up a couple Bengals at PBS last weekend?

They ARE known for "picking up" players from time to time.

Just Kidding. Henry/Leatherneck/Birdsfan you know I am.;) :ylsuper:

Southwestern kids played hard. QB throws a nice ball, but was off in accuracy. Nice running back. 45 and 5 on defense also very good.

Highlands totally dominated the game, yet when they review the tape today, my guess is the coaches will have a few things to "discuss" with them.

While the score doesn't indicate it, Coach Anderson actually put together a pretty good defensive plan for Highlands O. Defensive ends were ready for the traps and consistently got down low and linebackers blitzed effectively. Highlands receivers did get open deep several times however.

Kramer had another fantastic game. Conner looked good in his first game back. Line blocked well. Cecil ran and passed well. Defense was extremely effective against the run. Did a good job against the pass. Kudo's to Ryan Ball of making some tough catches of punts.

Good luck Warriors next week. Rest up and regain some swagger. Hope LTW and Commando had a safe trip home. As always, I enjoyed talking to you guys. Salt of the earth, good people you are. LTW, don't forget to let me know when Murray will be on tv. Looking forward to watching your son play again.

Ouch. Congrats to Highlands.

SW now has a week to heal up and get ready for district play. I suspect we just got beaten by the next State Champions so no need to hang your heads guys.

GO WARRIORS:banana:

400+ yards offense IN THE FIRST HALF for HHS. Wow.

Good game BIRDS. Nice win. Offense looked very good tonight against a good Warrier defense. The Warriors had a game plan that tried to taked away the run and putting that many in the box kind of backfired on them. I agree with LN on 45 & 5 playing well. I hope 45's injury is not serious. Same goes for the biggin, 375. His ankle did not look good.

I thought once we got the lead and started to work on some areas to improve on in the passing game we lost a little swagger. Lots of dropped balls and poor passes. It seemed to me and I do not have a tape to review, that the long pass was our objective. Th 10 - 15 yard pass was there, but no receivers.??

Defense looked very good against the run and a little out of sink against the pass. SW Qb has a nice touch, but not very accurate. No timing with the receivers and they were open. Too many times way open. Defensive line took a little while to start getting after him, but once they did he was being rushed.

Any news on injuries for the BIRDS. Is Wise ok and will Koester be back next week.

Get rested and healthy. Time to focus on a very good DeSales team up in Columbus.

Congrats Birds.. great game, Kramer looked fantastic as always. ONe time he ran into his own player, reversed and still ran 50 yrds for a score. I don't know anyone as quick and that can explode like him. SWest guys dont hang your head... QB threw some tight spirals and was constantly being harrassed. #5 the LB tatooed Connor one time and I was very impressed with him. they had some big athletic kids that only went one way....I was kind of surprised by that. Left at Halftime to go down to my alma mater game....which ended up a great game.

How many yards did Kramer end up with, I can't find the stats or scores in the online papers.

Had to be atleast 150.....3 TD's.. thats a good nights work for a half.

who lost to 4A Oldham County who was demolished by Trinity...

This chain of events gives me a headache.
