  1. I wasn't calling Watusi "Gu". I was calling Guru "Gu". Just an abbreviation. Why is that "creepy" :creepy: to you?
  2. Sorry, I had to go throw some coal in the stove. Thanks Watusi, and to think I used to walk the sidelines with Dick Roddy, jottin' down all those classic quotes. I'll always have Pond Creek's back. But with that direct line, you could have helped me out. Its OK though...sniff, sniff...
  3. And bring a football. Our's fell in the creek. Stop at Skyline and get me a 5-way too please. I'll pay ya' back.
  4. You're right. No way to slip out of that one gracefully. Hey Gu, can you strike my last three posts?
  5. Better make secure parking arrangements. I think all the chop shops have been shut down, but I'd hate to see nine buses stripped and on blocks. That just looks bad on the community.
  6. What's almost 3 miles? 1.5 kilometers? Man, I should have paid more attention in school, but I thought a kilometer was less than a mile. My truck only gets about 5 kilometers per gallon then! Thanks alot (lol).
  7. I may be way out of line, but I would gladly pledge more than my share to the boosters if someone can get this game scheduled next year. Here, there, or in between. There's no good reason that a good east Ky. team can't play a good N.Ky. team annually.
  8. He seemed to accept reality. I walked out of the room, but thought I heard him saying what an honor it will be to play this game, and how proud he was of our team for making it this far. Lots of compliments. I know it bummed me out when I heard CovCath has over 5,000 yards of total offense this year. That's almost a mile, and over 1.5 kilometers. And like 700 yards against Lexington Cathy? That's more than St. X scored, and St. X is about as Sainty as private schools get. I knew it was over when I saw Linda Blair yesterday sittin' on the wall at Our Lady of the Mountains school, holdin' up a sign that said "[Y]our mother sews socks so well". :scared: How did she know that?
  9. I think your answer was very accurate. BTW, how many does CC's hold? Never been to LexCath either. Is there alot of seating there?
  10. Sort of my point. We are as guilty as anyone of pumping up actual attendance. E.g., the Apple Bowl two years ago, people were saying we had 8-10,000 at JCHS. Nope. Maybe 6,000. Our stands only hold about 4,000, packed like sardines. To get even 8,000, they'd have to be lined 10 or 15 deep, all around the endzones and up to the 20s on the visitors' side. That has never happened. There are no fans between the 20s, because there's no view.
  11. I doubt CCH will bring anything close to 3,000 fans. I hope so, but there's no way they'll bring more fans than Ashland brought 2 weeks ago.
  12. There really is no visitors' section, per se, but they generally have 25 to 30% of the bleachers, mainly because JC fans sit elsewhere. During the last Ashland game, JC fans overflowed into the traditional visitors' area. Rock didn't have 1/2 the fans Ashland had, and there appeared to be a little more room. I doubt CovCath will bring any more than Rock, but if they do, they should get here as early as possible.
  13. I take it you have some history (lol). Naw, I'm not wastin' time...more like killin' time. Just having fun, and we're all entitled to our opinion. His is just wrong.
  14. Only one way to find out. Good luck to CC. This is Carl Luther puttin' the hammer down and hittin' the home 20. All you good buddies with yer' ears on, watch out for them Smokies on the AA, and if you come I 75, put the hammer down. We're gone, 'cause Ma's in her kerchief...
  15. Maybe. How do you know? Based on what? We beat Rock 29-7; CovCath beat NewportCath 34-14 (or something like that). I say that Rock would easily handle NewCath. I'd say Bell County (two losses to Rock) would do the same, as would Ashland. Just my opinion. By the way, Lincoln County sqeaked by Rock to hand Rock its only regular season loss. Just another fact. I'm gonna doublecheck Lincoln's scores to refresh my memory, but I recall that they had an excellent 4A team.
  16. I'll explain, even though I really shouldn't have to. At a minimum, JC would have beaten those teams just as badly. I know it doesn't mean anything necessarily, but NewCath lost to Belfry, 7-6; Pikeville lost to Belfry by one or two, and should have won, and Pikeville played Henry Clay into the 4th Q; Hazard beat Paintsville in a miraculous comeback in the playoffs, at Hazard, on the final play of the game; Hazard beat Pikeville, at Pikeville in the playoffs weekend before last. JC was up on Paintsville 36-0 (more than CCHS scored on either of its Class A opponents in an entire game) with nearly 2 minutes to go in the FIRST quarter last month, AT Paintsville. I admit, although true, this kind of analysis means nothing in the end, but at least its factual and not hyperbole.
  17. We didn't just beat teams. We anihilated them, save one of 13. Rock had a much tougher schedule, so everyone says. 29-7. Not 20-17, not 16-14, and had we been worried about scoring on the final drive rather than eating clock, it would have been 36-7. Take away Rock's lone TD, which came on a blatant busted assignment, and it would have been a shutout. Ergo, their schedule ends up even tougher and our's gets weaker. There are two 3A teams left standing...the J'ville "Fightin' Brats" and the "Catholic Colonels" (is that an oxymoron or does it just sound like one?). Keep the strength of schedule argument coming!!
  18. C'mon, we all know that the entire police force will be at the game. McDonald's has the new Boone's Farm shake, and I hear they'll super-size it to a MD 20-20 McFlurry at no extra charge. The hospital is right across the creek, so...celllllllll-e-brate good times, come on!
  19. Good luck CCHS #99. Your dad and I go way back, and it was great to talk to him today and catch up a little. After 25 years, he calls and tells me his son plays for CC. The stories I could tell! Once each summer for a whole week, 4 or 5 straight summers, we had about as much fun as you can have (without pads on). Look forward to meeting you and your mom, and catching up with P&K this weekend. Win or lose, we'll be at Papa John's 12/1. Anyway, your dad is very proud, and you should be too. With that said...GO EAGLES!!!
  20. Reality is hard hitting. One or the other will be harder.
  21. Some interesting numbers against two Class A schools. Very impressive.
  22. Referring to the area (as it is commonly referenced, and has been for years). You know...follow me now, e.g., Dallas/Ft. Worth, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and sometimes it even works in threes, e.g., Bristol/Kingsport/Johnson City (hey...Johnson City...nah, I still like Johnsonville). So yes, Covington/Newport.
