  1. Heard that too, and its sad. Most of us enjoy pulling for our rivals because of the rare statement it makes for E.Ky. Get on board D.M., or get out of the way. Why don't these homers realize what they're really saying is "my babies, if we can't have it, no one can". D.M., you gave us a scare, and fortunately the best team in E.Ky. was not knocked off by a hyped up, determined, one and done. If he felt that way, then his team had absolutely no chance against The Rock. On the otherhand, had Ashland won, I guarantee you that The Rock would be expected to have its hands full at Putnam. Anyway, to all the great Ashland fans, thanks for the support. D.M., we deserve more than that. Great voice, very fluid, but if you want to learn what to say and not say, listen to Spike. Objective comments are in style for the listener.
  2. Win or lose, they'll know where it is Friday night. This is the real southern side of Cincinnati. Whether its us or Bowling Green, I am pulling for a public school to overcome the unfair advantage,
  3. Nope. No one is required to do anything, and certainly not pull for our district champs. Sorry you have such bitter feelings about your treatment at JC. I doubt it was intentional, but there's always a jerk or two at every game. I don't recall Ashland shooting fireworks last year when they scored, or a cannon, but if they did, I'd hardly consider that disrespecting the other team. If Rock wins, I know I'll be pullin' for them in the semis. But that's just me.
  4. No disrespect here. I have never disrespected the Ashland program, and actually admire it very much. A little jab, a little salt in the wound is about as far as I go. Last year, after our letdown against Madison Southern, I sat out in my car and listened to Dickie through the static and pulled for Ashland. This year, we're district champs and deserve our district's support, but that's a personal thing, I guess. Your buddy has made it clear that, quote: "I don't like JC . . .." I couldn't care less, and respect his (or her) right to feel that way. Ashland has 100 years of pride and tradition. We have two or three. We can pick this up next year, as far as I'm concerned, 'cause right now we have UNFINISHED BUSINESS! If one is selfless, he realizes that the district champ's success makes the whole district look better; if he's selfish and consumed, then there's professional help out there.
  5. That avitar is so consistent with your attitude...not mean and intimidating, not nice and respectful...just all snarlly and envious. Be a happy cat, and send your donations to the JCHS Booster Club.
  6. Absolutely not. It was nothing like that. JC scored at about the 5:30 mark to tie the game. Ashland took over after the kickoff and may have gotten a first down, but 3 or 4 times they went to the air and had their passes broken up. They punted, and the ball hit at the JC 40, and rolled all the way to the 16. Five plays later, JC scored with about 11 seconds remaining.
  7. That wasn't the same Ashland team that played all year. The Tomcats looked 20 lbs. larger per man, and transformed in a week. It was the most confident, determined team I've seen in a long time. It was all about JC stepping up and taking the game back, in the last 5 minutes. Ashland didn't collapse so much as Central refused to lose. A little good fortune, yes, but not luck, or anything like that. A fumble hitting the ground and bouncing the right way is luck; executing a play to perfection is something different. You missed a great game, and really had to be there to appreciate it.
  8. I know, and have no doubt Rock would run all over them. It was a crazy game though.
  9. TY, I never make sense. I'm thinkin' Sonny's BBQ now. Hard noses got me thinkin' pig.
  10. Really? I just caught the tail end of it. Don't fear the (Grim) reaper! It all makes sense now (lol).
  11. Our kids don't drink, so if anything it'll be the hard-nosed (do you guys really have hard noses? There's a hospital across the creek, but not sure if they do hard noses.) defense. Bring Bud though.
  12. It all goes back to Rock 2, Corbin 0. Theoretically, a 14-13 Rock win means we would beat Corbin (man...why do I want to make a run for KFC hot wings?) 1-0. So in the poster's defense, it makes perfect sense. Hey In 'da Loop, what band were you playin' with on SNL? I saw ya' there, but am drawin' a blank.
  13. While any prediction is speculation, its especially true when teams with no common opponents meet. I have no idea who will win, and therefore won't be too surprised either way. Strength of schedule is meaningless, because it ignores all other relevant factors. The only thing that matters is who is better at this point in the season, and that's anyone's guess. Teams can change seemingly overnight. Ashland proved that Friday night, and I would venture to say that had Ashland played that way all year, they would be undefeated and hosting Rock this weekend. With that said, and with no basis whatsoever... Rock 224 JC 1,211
  14. It appeared to be intentional, as bizzare as that sounds. A split second to divert attention, giving him time to pass. He never fumbled on a handoff, or if he did, I didn't notice it. Whatever it was, the Ashland QB has probably obliterated the offensive fumble recovery record, if they keep such things.
  15. Ditto! And how 'bout that #20 SHAWN GRIM! A winner gets shut down, yet still finds a way to get the job done. GREAT PASS #20!!
  16. Hey, I was videoing over on the Ashland sideline when your kicker missed "wide right". I got some good footage of the Ashland coaches throwing a fit about the call. Its so funny! I'll have to get it on here after I get back from a nice relaxing Bengal weekend.
  17. Well, Coach Hart is a little biased. Ashland outplayed JC for 3 quarters. Central woke up and dominated most of the 4th. A Hail Mary is a prayer. JC won on a well-executed play. And talk about prayers? Ashland fumbled 9 times and had 7 bounce right back to them.
  18. Any long hush you heard was probably due to the earplugs. Hope most Ashland fans appreciate and respect another team's right and obligation to make their home team and fans happy. Good luck until next time.
  19. Ah...when you start believing this late in the season, its probably best just to wait until next year. Especially since you have a big "open" on your schedule until then. I'm sure there's much optimism since you only lose 24 kittens, Momcat.
  20. First of all, the best team won, period. Ashland played by far its best game of the season, and deserves all the credit in the world. It could have very easily won this game. I'm perplexed why it couldn't play that way all year, but the reality is that JC finally let its over-confidence nearly cost them. Finally, a challenge by a worthy opponent, and the Eagles truly needed this kind of game if they hope to keep advancing. Secondly, the music, and snippets, etc., is for our players and fans, and not you. What you or the opposing team thinks about it is irrelevant. We didn't obliterate the district to earn home-field advantage for your comfort and pleasure. Talk about "annoying" and "obnoxious". Don't take away from your teams' admirable performance by making excuses. If you want to be negative, why not point out your shirtless male cheerleaders blocking the aisles while people tried to enter and exit the concession area. You need to get them in the stands so they don't block fans' views, and then you could all "watch [your] kids play ball, talk with friends, etc." It would be so pleasant and lovely. Third, the disagreement between the officials regarding the Ashland touchdown was the proper call, and cost Ashland nothing. The Tomcats scored on the very next play. Just clarifying, because it sounds like you are suggesting that Ashland actually scored 4 touchdowns. Fourth, didn't you just love that "wide right" call by the Lexington officials? Too bad the Tomcats didn't lose by one. Keep improving, and you can enjoy the "wonderful PA system and announcer" in the playoffs for years to come. To all the Ashland players, that was an exceptional effort. Believe me, everyone at JC knows you played well enough to win. Good luck next year.
  21. Well....okay, "honey" then. I love all things. Gonna roll off this bean bag and flip my John Lennon LP. Hey, this attitude has been adjusted.
  22. Haven't needed it yet, 11-0, beating opponents by an average of 39 points. When we need it, it'll be there.
