  1. Was it Cooper? I seem to remember that for some reason.
  2. Sad to hear this. I'm a big Bryson Warner fan and not a fan of parents who think they're Jesus. Personally, I thought Ryle was a year away from returning toward the front of the NKY 6A district, but that will happen regardless of who coaches them. I'm not an X's & O's guy, and I couldn't tell you what a cover three is, but I appreciate good people who coach kids. I don't care what anyone says about the last two years, the talent was awful. The offensive system may have been awful as well, but those kids weren't going to win in any system. Be that as it may, I wish BW nothing but best wishes in whatever he does going forward.
  3. Best wishes to Ted and his family. So very sad.
  4. This wasn't a state final crew, therefore they were familiar with each other. The third round is the practice run.
  5. If you come for the King, you best not miss. Until someone dethrones Bob Beatty, Trinity is the team to beat.
  6. Gallatin County has had an outstanding year. Their staff has done a really nice job of molding theses kids from freshman until now, and my hat is off to them. However, Newcath is Newcath and most likely on a different level. I wish both teams the best of luck and hope that neither team has any injuries.
  7. I didn't read the bylaws, but to me the bigger question is why in the world would he get tossed in the postseason? I can only assume he received two unsportsmanlike fouls and was subsequently run. If that's the case, why would you keep going after the first one? Also, what kind of assistant coaches are on staff there to allow him to keep going after the first? What an unfortunate situation for the program. Again, I don't know why he was ejected, but because it was in round 2 he's finished for the year and possibly one or two games next year (if they lose Friday).
  8. Newcath always plays well this time of year. I agree with JD, tough schedule early leads to late season confidence and execution. I assume Gallatin County will host Newcath Friday night?
  9. I love this event. I think what I love most is that such a tragic event has developed into something so outstanding. Mr. & Mrs. Sorrell are at the event all day and for me personally, I love watching Mrs. Sorrell treat these kids like they're her own. It's quite obvious this event helps her cope, if only for just one day a year. Super, super people. If you've not seen Bach, you need to. He's fun to watch.
  10. I find it very hard to believe that the Union Mafia has all found their way into Bryson Warner's office.
  11. The talent level at Ryle in the last two seasons is nowhere near the talent level they had 3-6 years ago. I guess Boone County's coach should be fired as well? Is it his fault the talent is poor? Bryson Warner is not only a good coach, but is a quality man. $50 says those who post negatively on here don't have the balls to say to his face what they post on here. To me, you're not only gutless, but a sissy and a huge part of the problem at Ryle. I'm so thankful that when I came home from practice or a game that my parents never talked about my coaches. We ate dinner like normal people and I never had to hear the "super dad" speech of how awful my coach was, how awful the play calling is, nor how do we get him fired. I think it's pathetic how fickle people can be. 2010 they go to the semi-finals and now he's the problem? Gotcha.
  12. Congrats to all of these teams on fantastic years! Any idea on if this is the most unbeaten teams to enter the playoffs in KY football history? Seems like a lot.
  13. Glad they don't play twice a year anymore...
  14. First of all, I applaud that you stick up for the community and what you think is best for the kids at GC. However, in all honesty - what has GC football ever done that would command a "proven winner" to leave his current position, move to Dry Ridge, then knock on doors and say, "Here I am, follow me to Bowling Green!"? I'm sorry to be negative, but that's just not going to happen. I only know Coach Siple on paper, but what I do know is that he built a great program at Indian Hill, he won at Bracken County and is now at Grant County - who's competing in a district against foes they just aren't capable of beating. No different than Brossart being in 2A and having to get their brains beat in by NCC, Newport, Lloyd & Holy Cross. Kevin may not be the "right fit", but he's your head coach. With that said, I know the community is a proud bunch, but maybe it's time for the people to rise up and get their son out of the cookie aisle at Walmart and get them to go out for football and be part of the solution and not the problem.
  15. Seriously, asking where the party is at is probably the greatest thing I've heard this season.
  16. I love seeing stories like these. I think Tony said it best, "Miles is just as much a part of this program as any other player or coach." What I take away from stories like these is the amount of true acceptance from the teammates. Not only will Miles take with him the fantastic memory of scoring a touchdown, but he'll always remember the excitement his teammates had when he crossed the goal line. You can't buy that kind of happiness! Well done, Beechwood & Campbell. True class.
  17. I agree with you. I think the 5A team who makes it out of the Cooper/Scott/Cooner/S.Oldham district has a real shot at going to Bowling Green.
  18. I'm not an expert, nor a coach, but this is just my humble opinion: I believe the Cov Cath staff understands what great effort it will take year in and year out to defeat Highlands, twice, and win a state championship. Now, If Highlands and Moeller were to play 10 times, I'd bet the series would be pretty even. I could be wrong, but that is the caliber Highlands is at and has been at. So why not schedule someone who will not only run a very similar offense, but will bring outstanding athletes as well? Just my opinion, but I think scheduling a team like Moeller is a good measuring stick for their game(s) against Highlands. Hopefully everyone can stay healthy for the rest of the season.
  19. Best wishes to Michael and Mustafa. Hopefully neither is as bad as the original diagnosis.
  20. I think most private schools have dry spells now and then. Cyclical is the perfect word to describe it, Lawnboy. Newcath may be headed into a dry cycle, but they are coming off a 2A title and have lost two close games to nice teams. However, Newcath has always competed well against bigger schools, so I don't necessarily buy the 5A/6A vs 2A scenario when it comes to them. If it were Lloyd or Newport, I would buy it. Newcath is annually a top 5 power, so it never shocked me when they's beat someone bigger than them. Truth be told, I expected them to beat Campbell and Cooper, but they're just not there yet. They'll probably start 1-4, but that's okay. Dan and his staff will coach them up and have them ready for November.
  21. Lots of great opinions on this topic. For the record, I also wish the dead period was 3-4 weeks long. Football and basketball have become year round sports in high school. Kids need a break, as do their parents. I liked the June 15-July 15 deal, but the KHSAA will never allow that. Three weeks would be ideal though.
