Knee injury, speculation is Meniscus, to the Doc tomorrow.

Also, Mustafa Diaw from Boone injured his knee, speculation is his ACL.

Praying for good news. Hated seeing him go down that early. I didn't see when it happened but heard it was 2nd play on offense. There was a lot of hard hitting in that game.

My snap judgement upon seeing this score is "uh oh" for Cooper. Am I wrong?

Really hate to hear these things about these young men who work their tails off to prepare for the season. Hope all is well with both.

Best wishes to Michael and Mustafa. Hopefully neither is as bad as the original diagnosis.

I heard from neutral sources that Boone Co looked 100% improved over their last two efforts. Cooper was flat on offense after the first two drives looked effortless. Cooper D played well enough, but Boone's receivers dropped 3 or 4 long passes that would have been game changers. Boone matched Coopers speed guys very well and I expect big things from the Rebels by season's end and definitely the next few years.

After first two offensive drives by Cooper, I thought it was going to be blow out city. However Cooper started playing more conservative and Boone looked to stabilize on D. Boone had chances late to make it interesting but recievers could not catch open passes. Cooper looked better later in game and had a nice long drive for score and another that bogged down after a penalty.

It looked like Cooper after their first 2 scores wanted to stick to the offensive gameplan. They had it wide open for slants etc in the first half but chose not to take advantage of the one on one on the outside Boone was giving them with no safety help and instead went with the running game. They changed it up in the 4th and looked good.

The defense looked good also.

Boone needs to find some receivers who can catch. When the ball was on target there were too many drops.

Hard hitting game but it always is between these two. Casey Boaton had the hit of the game when Ludwig decided to leave his feet on a scramble and Boston laid him out. I felt it in the stands. But tough players get up and go on and Ludwig did just that.

Conner's did as well.

Not really sure why this is "uh oh" for Cooper? Most people have absolutely no clue how there is virtually no depth on this team. The object of the game was to win which is what they did. 22-7 is pretty good in my book and I could care less about style points. The Jags had a bad 2nd Q and had it not been for a tipped INT that set up Boones only score the game would have been 22-0 minimum. Just like the NCC game they got stronger in the 2nd half and took care of business and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

The Jags are 2-1 and could be, no should be 3-0, vs teams that have been bigger than them not to mention that have either been full platooning or nearly platooning. Cooper has 8 players that go both ways and are playing 4 sophs a considerable amount of PT.

Outside of the team and true fans there was not alot of expectations for Cooper because of the huge losses from last years State Runner-up team. They will not be favored in any of the their remaining games with the exception of one probably not to mention they will be out-sized/out-manned.

I will take an ugly win vs style points and move on. Next....

I get that especially from Cooper fans. I'd be the same. However, I'd then take a step back and say "OK, where are we when it comes to competing in 5A." I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't at this game so I can only go off of a score. However, this Boone team has had two running clocks put on them in a row ie their D is REALLY bad and their O isn't much better. To see a 15-pt margin is shocking to those of us who expect Cooper to be a formidable opponent in 5A.

No hate. I fully respect what Coach B has done in a short period of time.

One more thought.

The problem with a board like this is it leads to discussion about teams and "how they'll do down the road." That's what my post was. Problem is it takes away the fact that a team went out and WON A GAME which they should always celebrate especially a rivalry game. Cooper players should not have to hear "well what about...." They should enjoy their win. Know they've got work to do but, again, enjoy their win.

Posts like mine sometimes make that more difficult for a Cooper player who might be reading this. Boys, excellent work. Don't let my thoughts (as legit as I think they might be) damper your satisfaction for a job well done.
