I love AJ and respect what he has done for the athletics at Cooper High School, but I agree with Oldtime. I was really surprised to hear that he would miss a week for spring break bc he's always been committed to what he's doing. I completely understand that he's burning out and has been involved in something 51 weeks a year since he was young, but this is his senior year and he's their leader. AJ is an outstanding kid, an outstanding athlete, and outstanding leader. I'm glad he got a break, but a little disappointed he let down his team.

You're too funny. I stand by what I said. If you don't like someone calling out your guy, so be it. Don't come here and try to bring down a program and its head coach because you don't have the stones to handle things face to face. You're wrong on this one. Get your popcorn, son.

I re-read your previous post and now see that you said Varsity assistant. I apologize for my reading error and attack on you. I do not apologize for my support of Jeff Trame, nor do I apologize for anything else previously said. I love BGP and have been a member since its inception (name changes), but I do not love the people who vent or hate on here. I hope that whatever is causing issue in the program is stomped out. If it means removing players and their ignorant parent(s), then so be it.

Time out. First things first, you're going to tell me that Jeff Trame acts like he's above the players? I'll tell you this, you'll never meet a more humble and better person than Jeff. I've know Jeff many, many years and never have I witnessed such behavior. Now, for you to hide behind a message board name and say that the freshman coach should have gotten the job over Trame is probably the most contradictory statement that's ever been typed on BGP. Norton is the most cocky and arrogant bully I've ever known. He treats his kids like garbage and pretends that he's above all. You obviously must not know him well enough or maybe he just strokes your kid so you think he's amazing?? You say there are discipline issues? Fine, there probably have been, just like in every program across the land. However, is this the avenue to take in order to get them resolved? Doubtful. Maybe I read your post the wrong way, but I'm not a BGP "coach basher". Jeff Trame is a great man and in all his years coaching has never been above anything or any person.

No. You have to have 64 college credit hours to be a head coach, but no degree. I'm almost certain that to be a paid assistant you must have 64 credit hours as well. That could be wrong, but I thought that is what the rule is from the KHSAA.

I saw a freshman team bunt with two strikes on Saturday. Newcath was trailing at Dixie and then took the lead on a double-squeeze and then followed that up with a two-strike squeeze.

Shoulder or elbow? I believe the surgery is today. Tough break for a really great kid and a fantastic baseball player. Hopefully he comes back 100%!

I agree that he's well connected, well informed and well liked. Much more than that guy from NKYFan and his roofing weather report. I do appreciate his magazines though.

All do respect, "Walter", but if you want to keep something quiet you shouldn't post here that HC has made a hire, but you can't release the name yet. That would be considered noise. Quiet would be not posting. I enjoy your posts and also your videos, etc., but come on son, you're just asking for it when you start a thread like this.

I'd say he goes to HC with his dad. He's a nice player and can shoot the ball. HC will be down, but hopefully Ryan will find a way to get the kids to compete.

Was this a night game? If so, I wasn't aware that Highland Park had lights. Pretty cool atmosphere if it did! I really like the work Coach Baioni (sp?) and his guys have done to that field. Well at least I thought I had been told the city is no longer maintaining the field. Personally I like that baseball people take care of baseball fields instead of someone who could care less what the field looks like as long as the grass is cut and the field has been dragged i.e. Cordero Field, Central park, etc.

The current (former) system is old and needs to change. There has to be another way of evaluating or rating people than the way they do it now. Basketball is difficult because there are so many games and too many people to see. If a coach doesn't see someone who's new(er) and doing very well, is it fair to him/her that they don't know them and rank them lower than Jim Farmer? Hopefully the crew that picks the new assigner will chose someone who is willing to change the current model. Personally, I'd hate to see them hire another 9th region official. Chris was doomed from day one. He went from being one of the guys on Wednesday and the boss on Thursday - bad combination. They need someone from outside their circle to lead them.

I believe he's just a varsity assistant. Was the JV boys coach at Holy Cross last year and Bishop Brossart the year before that. Has also been at Highlands. Great coach, great person.

I really give the WV administration credit here. From what I've heard they were incredibly dead-set on making a big splash on hiring a Head Coach. I don't know how many applicants they had, but they pursued Grant Brannen and did what it took to get him to leave the only place he's ever known. Put yourself in Grant's shoes - he's grown up in that gym. First, when his brother John was at Newcath he would've been 8-11 years old. Following the team around, rooting for them, wearing their colors. Then he grows up and plays in that same program, with the same pride he had while watching his brother. After that he comes back as an assistant under two separate head coaches before getting the job himself. That's 20-23 years of bleeding blue & gold and knowing nothing else. Could you imagine that comfort zone? To leave that position after being a good steward of the program would take a lot. Having not talked to him I'm certain the money was the end all, but I truthfully don't know. However, I give him incredible kudos for having the guts to do what he had to do, as hard as it probably was. With that said, Congrats to Grant Brannen on the job. I wish him nothing but the best of luck.
