  1. Maybe I'm late to the party on this one, but I just looked at the DQ list on the KHSAA site and it now lists two players from Cov Cath as being DQ'd and one from Conner. All three received two game suspensions. I know CC originally had three, so with that said I'm glad the state saw the third player had nothing to do with the incident and removed his suspension. I'm sure that young man was happy.
  2. Jeff Barth has done a fine job at WV since taking over for Woody McMillian a few years ago. He's a high character person and surrounds himself with high character people. If he were to win the COY award, it wouldn't surprise me at all. He does deserve to be in the conversation at the very least. Randy and Dave have also done outstanding jobs with their kids this year. Everyone knew Cooper would be good, but no one thought Dixie would be good and they've surprised everyone. Personally, I'd like to see a Co-COY award, but that's not going to happen. All three of these men have represented their programs, their communities and their families well. All great coaches in my book!
  3. I would say Cooper still being in the hunt to get the one seed in their district forces them to play their starters. Dixie will not change anything bc they're on a roll, plus it's senior night. This could be a dandy! Does anyone know if what I said about Cooper playing for the one seed is correct? I don't know if that will have been determined by Friday or not.
  4. Did Fogle get hurt in a game? I don't remember reading about this anywhere. Tough loss for Conner if he's out for any period of time. Sounds like it was a great game. Best of luck to both teams the rest of their way.
  5. This should be a really good game. However, Holy Cross/NCC was the regional final game. HC/OC played in round two. Congrats to WV on the win and on a fine season!
  6. Sounds like it was a good one. How does this affect the freshman playoffs, if at all? Sorry if this isn't the thread for that.
  7. I see where people are posting the KHSAA rules regarding filming at games. Just to clarify, the broadcast that was pulled was not the Ryle team film, but the iHigh crew there to broadcast the game. Therefore if Conner didn't want video broadcast online, so be it. However, I agree with Ru, the Ryle broadcasting crew should have been notified prior to the middle of the 1st quarter. Coaches are very particular when it comes to having their films out for everyone to see. That's their right, although coaches all throughout the state trade film of teams without permission. Why do coaches have urinating contests about the use of the pressbox, etc.? I'll never understand it.
  8. Sooooo, as of now, how does it play out if the season ended today? Can't we go back to the days of paper-rock-scissors to determine a winner?? Just kidding!
  9. Wishing, hoping and praying that you and your sister can find the peace you deserve. I'm grateful the Dayton and NKY communities have come together to give you the support you need! Your father was obviously a great man to raise such an outstanding son! I hope that the wind is always at your back, Dejujuan! Best of luck to you and yours!!!
  10. Holmes' field takes a good beating during the year, but if both teams have to play on it, so be it. Seems to be a lot of negativity coming off of the hill this year? Is this really warranted? I'm no expert, and really don't even know their record, but I do know they've lost a few games in which they had the chance to win at the end, but couldn't hang on or punch it in. If they win those, what's the reaction then? Have people become so accustomed to winning that when they lose they have to blame everyone from the coaches, to the officials, and also the custodian? Maybe the players need to make plays? Maybe the players could be less enabled at home? There really isn't a rebuttle here either. Players have to make plays and that needs to start with their Seniors.
  11. Seems to me to be a great kid on top of everything else he's involved in. It's nice to see good kids that work hard get rewarded. Many times it's the low character kids who get the accolades.
  12. So you're saying they should've left a sideline uncovered? That would've been interesting for spots, eligible/ineligible receivers, etc.
  13. Kinda like Pulaski County? Nice win for the Raiders! Best of luck to them.
  14. Conner? Have bad officials? Say it ain't so...
  15. I'm also going with Campbell here. With the expected rain, I can see Durham having a nice night running the ball. I really don't know who's defense is better, but I'd imagine it's Campbell County's. Good luck to both.
  16. This Beechwood freshman group is a special group. Glad to see they're still doing well. I haven't seen the HHS freshman play, but I'm sure they'll be just fine.
  17. Anyone think that Cooper can win out and go 10-0? Seems to be a real possibility if they can get past Conner. Congrats to the Jags. Campbell will be just fine. Coach Lickert is a great coach and will have his kids ready for their next game.
  18. I wonder if HC saw this coming or if it was abrupt? I'm not familiar with the OHSAA, but I'd assume he'll be eligible to play this year for Taft?
  19. Funny you say that, I thought the same thing about Conner's field last year. Congrats to Cooper on the win. Boone will rebound.
  20. Personally, I don't have any problem with the way Jim McKee coaches. Every coach has their own style, which I respect. I see where it upsets parents, players, etc., but when you've tell a kid something over and over, it's probably not going to come out as nice as the first time he told you. He could coach my son tomorrow if he likes. I'd be pleased to know that he would be disciplined and held accountable. I think comparing Dale and Jim's coaching styles is apples to oranges. They're both successful and both handle kids in a different way. I think both prepare their boys to be good men when they leave their respective programs, and both are probably proud of that. Bottom line: the better team won on Friday night. Highlands was the aggressor and will be tough to beat. Best of luck to both teams.
