Lloyd Memorial 2011
How does a coach go about making kids stay in the program?

2011 11th Region Draw
I like Creek and Central in the Semi's and Woodford vs Catholic (as much as I would love to see Hundley beat Scott Co, got to go with Catholic) in the other semi's. In the finals I like Creek vs Catholic with Catholic winning it all. However, I have to say, GOOOOOOOOO YELLOWJACKETS!

Boys 2011 10th region draw
I think the Campbell/Scott first round game might be the most interesting game in round 1. CCHS plays 2-2-1 full court and drop back into a 2-3 zone, which they are really good at. Mason has shown this year that they can struggle against zone defenses. I am really looking forward to this game.

Covington Catholic vs. Ryle
I want the Colonels to win simply so that the chances of seeing the "Crazies" at Rupp stay alive.

Roy Lucas
Hate to hear this, but I wish Coach Lucas the best. He is a great coach, a tremendous teacher, and a huge asset to any school. Is he staying at Lloyd to teacher/councel/administration? Also, what direction will Lloyd go now? Do they hire a coach inside the program or do they look elsewhere? Has anyone heard of interest in the position? It would be a great position for any coach.

Covington Latin
Off topic, but isnt Cov Latin home to baseball/Atlanta Brave great David Justice?

Pendleton County 61 Harrison County 60
If you want to write a book or brochure about everything you could possibly do to lose a game, this game (Harrison) would be the game to write about. Poor FT shooting, even worse defense, and even worse luck at then end of the game where Harrison had two defenders on the player recieving the pass and the PC player still ends up with it. Amazing game. IMO I thought the biggest difference of the game in the last 1:50 were the two and-1's PC got. Harrison had no intentions of playing defense, if that is the case just let the guy go, dont foul him. I think PC got two in a row and converted both free throws which was an additional 2 points Harrison gives up. Essentially that could have made it a 4 point game at the end rather than a 2 point game (which I do realize other things could have happened as well), and the 3 point shoot is irrelavant.

St.Henry 74 Lloyd Memorial 58
I think they drop 30 on a team and sure they would get credti regardless of if it was a win or loss and who they were playing against. IF he is good enough to score 30 when he is not trying, hate to see him when he is. Main point here is that we would all love to see kids play hard the entire game, does not always happen, no right to call someone lazy because he does not play hard all game. You also have to think about what Cheetum did in this game knowing that more than likely St. Henry's defensive scheme was centered around stopping him, which according to the stats was not successful. They did a good job stopping everyone else, but they could not stop him, so why not look elsewhere for excuses. I truly believe that it is easier to bash Cheetum because he is at Lloyd and not New Cath, Cov Cath, etc. Would we call Hatton, Thelen, etc LAZY if they scored 30 and lost to Newport, St. Henry, etc????

St.Henry 74 Lloyd Memorial 58
OK, the kid plays with no enthusiasm, no effort, etc, drops 30 and ???? rebounds, you can't give the kid credit. So if he tries hard and scores 30 against St. Henry, does he get credit then?

George Rogers Clark 67 Montgomery County 59
Not sure what you mean when you say that GRC was punished for being tall. To my knowledge very few fouls were called that had anything to do with size (I am guessing that you are referring to an over the back call). This game was evenly called, it was bad both ways. I think some GRC fans are willing to find any way possible to make claim as to why Montgomery was in this game.

Jack Jennings vs Jake Giesler
Agreed. One of the better players THIS YEAR, but a little too much credit given. You mention Neltner, Brock, and Doellman, those are just a few names that come to mind. How would Giesler compare to some other NCC bigs such as Brannan, Myers, Baccigulupo (I always hated spelling his name, great guy, solid player) etc.

Woodford County 72 Frankfort 50
I apologize for the initial post, the correct score was WC 72 Frank 50.

Woodford County 72 Frankfort 50
Congratulations to Coach Hundley and the rest of the staff and players for advancing to the 41st District Finals Friday night. Looking forward towards and good game. Jackets let Frankfort back in the game when Johnson went out with his second foul, but a slight adjustment by the Woodford allowed them to get the lead back out before half, thought that was the difference in the game. Congrats to Coach Wise on a great season.

Ballard 73 Trinity 62
It's crazy how one of the best teams in the state is sent to the house already. Gotta love the 7th region!

George Rogers Clark vs Montgomery Co predictions. 40th District Championship 2/24
Wish well to my Indians, but I think the Indians need a strong performance in this game to maintain confidence if they should meet up again in the Region, when it really counts.

St.Henry 74 Lloyd Memorial 58
Lloyd plays a bad game at the wrong time and people want to bash them. Lets look at the overall picture here and see that Lloyd had a pretty good year, especially considering what they have done in years past. Coach Key does a great job at Lloyd and deserves more credit for what he does for that program, not to mention the fact that he does an even better job as an administrator! What will Lloyd have coming back/coming up next year?

George Rogers Clark 102 Paris 47
@NKYThreeFer, I think that Jacobs is a Junior, but either way he is a good player, put some other players around him and they could be dangerous. Clark is also missing Van Cleeve and the other little point guard (Domonique??? might be his name), any word on what happened with them?

LaFayette
Wow, wish Coach Coldiron the best and hope everything turns out ok.

10th Region Coach and Player of the Year
Another aspect of Rogers game that I do not think he gets enough credit for or that people may realize (and Gold Sunrise may have an assist in this post), but Corey Rogers, on most nights, will guard the other teams best player regardless of position. At 6'5 240 (???) and his ability to guard such a diverse group of players in amazing!

Best Student Section
Hopefully we have some Cov Cath students on BGP, but I for one would not mind if thier student section was invited to Rupp regardless if Cov Cath wins the 9th or not just for the entertainment of watching them perform!

Bourbon County / Montgomery County predictions 2/22
I like Montgomery in this one as well, Bourbon has struggled lately and not sure if they have the ability to stop Prewitt and Handshoe both.
-
Best Student Section
I am a firm believer that if Cov Cath's student section wanted to travel around the state to hold "student section cheering section clinics" that they could attrack some interest. If you have not had the chance to do so, check them out on you tube.

10th Region Coach and Player of the Year
I think Corey Rogers is very deserving of the award. If you look at his numbers over the past two season's, he has been Clark's leading scorer and if not thier leading rebounder, at least very close to it. He is solid game in and game out and you know what you are going to get from him every night. I thought Stenzel would get it by reputation and name over Rogers, both kids deserving but very glad Rogers got it. Congrats to Coach Humphrey's on the recognition, but as stated by other posters, thought Russell might win. Might have been one of the best year's in terms of being an open region for numerous kids and coaches to win these prestigious awards, has made for a great season thus far. Lets finish strong!

Left Out
With Districts upon us, who are some of the teams that might be able to upset someone in the first round and leave some of the big names out of the regional tournament? This is mostly for those teams that seed, any 4/5 seeds that might be able to upend a 1/2 seed in the first rounds?

All 10th Region Teams & Coach Of Year
I wouldn't look into too much, just shows that Campbell may have the best TEAM rather than the best individuals.
