Covington Catholic vs. Ryle

Featured Replies

At the risk of digressing from the coup de grace and coup d'etat dialogue, rumor has it that the Colonels are going to lace them up against a very talented Ryle squad on Wednesday. Cov. Cath. won back in December 81-72. Thelen and Stauffer will likely get their points and rebounds. If Baker and Riedinger are hitting, I look for the Colonels to move on. If they are off, I think Cov. Cath. will be one and done.

I am expected a good game here, with the Colonels prevailing at the end. IMO I think possibly the biggest factor for the Colonels in this one, is that Shult who was out the first time these two clubs played, will be playing and has been playing very well. He will bring a lot of intensity and passion to the group. The key though I think will once again come down to how the guards play. If they are able to limit turnovers and score some, should be able to come out on top.

I want the Colonels to win simply so that the chances of seeing the "Crazies" at Rupp stay alive.

I know the Crazies would love to get back to Rupp. I am sure if they do, they will have some special things planned. Let's hope they get the chance!

I like Ryle in a close one. I think Stauffer is the best big man defender in the area. I think if Tate Mullins plays well this team has a shot at winning the entire thing. Ryle defends very well and has size. With some good gaurd play...they could be playing on Sunday.

IMO the key to the Colonels' success will be their perimeter D. Make it difficult for Stauffer to get touches and you win.

BTW watching Perkins and Schult play like their hair is on fire will be worth the price of admission.

I have to go with the hot hand here. Ryle is 8-2 in their last 10 games with their losses coming against what I think are the two favorites to win the region in Dixie and NewCath. This is a different team from almost three months ago in that loss on the road to CovCath. My prediction is Ryle 64 CovCath 58

Very very close game and of course my heart says Raiders. Ain't gonna be easy. Lookin' forward to a great battle.

Last game was 37-17 at half time and Ryle outscored CovCath 55-44 in the 2nd half. I mean 99 points in a half are you kidding me? Which half shows up for the Colonels Wednesday. Schult will help limit a 55 point half I think.

CovCath by 10. 66-56.

Ryle didnt show up last year in the REgional and I would expect them to come out strong on Wed night in the first game. Stauffer and Thelen will be a great matchup.

I think it comes down to guard play and Ryle should win this one.

Ryle 64
