Jake Giesler is a vey good high school player and one of the best high school players in Northern Kentucky this year but Jennings is one of the all time greats from this area. Some big men that come to mind would be Neltner, Brock, Doellman....

Jennings would dominate Giesler like he used to do to many players back in the late 80's. Just ask Allan Houston, who is a former NBA star from Louisville Ballard, on how hard it was to guard Jennings back in the 88 state tournament. Jennings went off for 40 something against Ballard.

Agreed. One of the better players THIS YEAR, but a little too much credit given. You mention Neltner, Brock, and Doellman, those are just a few names that come to mind. How would Giesler compare to some other NCC bigs such as Brannan, Myers, Baccigulupo (I always hated spelling his name, great guy, solid player) etc.

Are you kidding me? Jack Jennings is still a beast! He'd still put 40 on Geisler.

I played 4 years of small college ball and tried to guard Jack Jennings in a pick-up game once. I had no shot! Best i ever tried to guard. :)

Jennings stands above Geisler in almost every category. When Geisler leads his team to the Sweet 16, plays college ball and maybe abroad professionally then we could compare. But at the high school level, Jennings is tops.

No comparison. Jennings is head and shoulders above Geisler.

I don't think at this stage of Geisler's career you can even compare him to Bing. Jennings wasn't what I would call a big man other than in the backside area. He was only 6'4" but played much bigger than that. Strong scorer from anywhere on the floor and a rebounder reminiscent of Sir Charles Barkley. I remember the game when Jack scored 68 against none other than NCC. It was an unbelieveable night of basketball. Had Jack been 3 or 4 inches taller he could have played in the NBA imo.

I saw some old video of Jack once and I can't believe someone would even try to compare the two and start this thread.

No disrespect to the poster or Jake Geisler but there is absolutely NO COMPARISON.

Jack Jennings is obviously before my time but dude could probably still average 30 a game playing today at his age.

We fronted and played behind him in a zone during Districts holding him to 29. Lol

No disrespect taken here. I agree. I just thought "if" Giesler is the best big man the area has seen since Jennings, how would they stack up? Has there been a better big man since Jennings?? If not, it is remarkable that the best big man the area has seen in 20 years can't be seriously compared to Jack.

How about the 20 years before Jennings? Anyone?

Giesler is the best big man in N Ky this year but this isn't the strongest of years for the 9th Region. There is a good crop of bigs in N Ky this year but none are slam dunk D1 caliber players and only a couple of them are going to get an opportunity to play at the D2 level.

This is not meant to disrespect Giesler but he is not the best big man since Jennings. Neltner went on to play in the SEC and Doellman played at X. Brock played at EKU. These are just the guys that come to mind without doing any research.

Why would you embarrass Jake Giesler by comparing him to Jack Jennings?

Jack is and was a beast especially when he played because almost all high school players were skinny. He would still dominate don't get me wrong, he was an outstanding offensive player. I would take Giesler on defense however.
