If Scwartz gets offers from Ky then she would definitely be high major D1. I do stand corrected on NKU if she has an offer there as I didn't realize that NKU was in the Horizon league which is considered a mid major D1 league now.

I didn't say that Scherr wasn't high major D1 quality. I understand she has very nice offers. I questioned the poster stating they had 2 mid to high major D1 players.

I guess you need to define what you think is mid major D1. High major D1 is UConn, Notre Dame, etc. NKU is not mid major D1.

So you're saying that Ryle has 2 mid to high major D1 players? I think that might be a bit of a reach.

Big district win for Conner that lets them take control of the district seeding at 2-0. Heard the final score shouldn't have been this close and that Conner continued to struggle with lots of turnovers, bad shooting and especially poor free throw shooting. Also heard that substitution patterns were suspect again.

Looks like another really nice collection of teams. Should give us a good picture of what the state looks like unless all the out-of-state teams win. Does anyone have any info on the out-of-state teams? KING OF THE BLUEGRASS

I hope that Conner can bounce back after the loss to Highlands but they have serious issues. They don't have a true point guard to get them into an offensive flow and quite honestly someone said it in the Highlands thread their offense looks like schoolyard play. They try to run dribble drive which usually ends up with someone chucking up a bad low percentage shot. If they are to be successful against Ryle they will have to turn them over with the press and make a resepectable percentage of their 3s and somehow find a way to make free throws. As RCC9 said they have a lot of good young talent but need some leadership to come from somewhere and I don't know where that could be. Maybe they just need to play some more good teams to find that out but helter skelter is not the answer. They need to play more under control on offense and when the other team gets the ball down against the press they need to buckle down and lock them down defensively and not give up easy shots and rebound misses.

Any broadcasts of these games?

What is the boarder bowl? Do they see who can find the best place to live?

How is it that you have a 7 footer who plays 24 minutes and gets 5 rebounds. As Sir Charles has been known to tell you "if you're 7 ft tall you should get double digit rebounds every night on accident".

Was told that Conner missed a great number of wide open layups, had a lot of unforced turnovers and missed free throws again. Stamm needs to start holding players accountable who aren't producing and playing out of control. When girls aren't getting the job done they shouldn't be on the floor.

Highlands is at Conner tonight. Conner undefeated in this short season at 5-0 comes off a close win over district rival Cooper, a game in which they turned the ball over a lot, shot poorly but held on to win. Who wins this game and why?

Conner needs to worry about Highlands tonight before they think about Ryle.

Bad free throw shooting is going to keep this team from fulfilling their big goals if it doesn't turn around. They have gone to the line 108 times and only made 51 for 47%. Many of those were front ends of 1 and 1s. Against Cooper they were 15 of 31. Looks like some extra free throw time is due over the holidays. That kind of shooting won't get it done against Highlands this week and they will make free throws.

Conner down 30-20 at half but picked it up offensively 2nd half. Wasn't there but heard that they had a ton of turnovers in the game. Sometimes you have to win ugly and maybe this was the case tonight. Big win for Conner as this was a district game.

He had 1,621 through the Bracken Co. game of January 29, 2016. The KHSAA didn't have his pt. total for their tournament loss to Augusta last year but he scored 764 without that game in 2016.

By all accounts Jake Ohmer should be at or nearing 2000 career pts. Anyone have any insight into that?

If he is as good as advertised who's to say some prep school doesn't snatch him up long before his senior year at BG.

Hurst doesn't take it to the basket much. What free throws she attempts usually come off steals at the top of the full court press and getting fouled going to the basket. Jordan and Burcham are slashers who go the line more but Hurst is more a streaky spot up shooter. Against North Hardin she attempted 16 3s connecting on 5 of them but after a slow 1st half she hit I believe 4 in a row coming out in the 2nd half.

And also frustrate you with their inconsistent outside shooting. When they are on and their press is effective they can play with anyone in the 9th but when they aren't hitting they will keep teams in the game.

McLemore is a hustler but she still plays out of control with the ball and could probably be forced into turnovers with good pressure. Conner really doesn't have any "bigs". Duncan is the starting center at 5'10 and the biggest girl that can come off the bench is the freshman Drummond. Drummond is about the same height but probably moves better and definitely jumps better than Duncan. She shows signs of being a nice player down the road but probably lacks the experience to log big minutes if needed. As for Roberts the prognosis doesn't look good for her to help this team much. I heard she was cleared by the doctor but the knee issues just won't let her give them quality minutes and she didn't even dress in their opener against Ludlow. This Conner team will live and die with the pressing defense and 3 pt. shooting, and they will have to shoot it much better than they have to beat the top tier teams. They went 22-12 last year but only beat 3 teams with + .500 record. Gambrel was the glue that held that team together and she will be missed. I personally think they will have trouble bettering that record as they probably have a little tougher schedule, but time will tell.
