Final from Claryville.

Big night of 3's for Clos and Holbrook help to get the win!

Here's the box score.

Campbell County 54, Ryle 46

Ryle (2-5) - Miller 2 0 4, McGregor 4 3 11, Branson 1 1 3, Schwartz 5 1 13, Scherr 5 2 13, Douchit 1 0 2.

Campbell Co. (3-3) - Clos 7 4 21, Schwarber 3 3 10, Seckman 1 0 3, Scott 1 1 3, Jackson 1 0 3, Holbrook 4 4 14.

Halftime score: CC 22-21. 3-pointers: R 3 (Schwartz 2, Scherr); C 8 (Clos 3, Holbrook 2, Schwarber, Seckman, Jackson).

Solid win for CC. Coach Menefee is very good, outcoached Ryle. Until Ryle started trapping near the end they had no answer for CC's patience to get Clos, Schwarber or Holbrook a good look. Ryle was very athletic but Coach Menefee knew how to get the win despite that.

I agree 100% that Coach Menefee did a great job of keeping the girls patient and under control most of the night. Good win for this Camels team. I know Campbell lost a lot of talent from last years team but this group is really coming together really nice and I think they will definitely be a contender at the end of the year and will surprise some people. I think you always have a chance to win with the Clos/Schwarber tandem and now Holbrook is really having a good year as well so that just increases the chances for this Camels team.

Maddie was in a cast for two weeks and got it off Tuesday evening. She was obviously weak in the right wrist. That being said she didn't start but still contibuted. The refs were challenging from a Ryle perspective but Ryle needs to learn how to use their athleticism better. CC made some key shots in the fourth and Ryle couldn't overcomes the deficit.

I love me some Coach Menefee but I would hardly call this an outcoached game. Ryle's defense gave CC fits all night and forced them to shoot the 3's. Luckily for CC, most of those shots fell. Ryle wasn't as fortunate with their shots falling and CC did a good job of winning the rebounds.

How healthy is Scherr? Did CC double team her or go box:1?

Campbell didn't double team or run a box and 1 on her. As stated she just came off of an injury so she was trying to work back into things last night.

I've coached some basketball, and IMO definitely outcoached. With an overall more athletic team Ryle could have done things defensively to better their chances (we won't say what those things are in case future coaches are reading!). I think very highly of our players but in the end they had two mid-high D1 players and Juliet McGregor who is essentially as good (better athletically). So in the end, they had the better players, they lost, we won, therefore outcoached. I know that's not always the case but IMO this time it was. Hats off to Coach Menefee

Ryle's coach went from having 4 really tall bigs to zero. An adjustment for a coach who was a post player herself. 3 especially talented guards with quite a drop off after. Mcgregor is playing under the basket quite a bit as I've never seen a girl that can jump like that. Her head hit the net last night... it's something to see. The team seems to be struggling working cohesively especially offensively. Hopefully with Scherr back they can begin to gel.

I've been telling you people, McGregor is a special athlete!!!

But even more...an absolute great kid!

So you're saying that Ryle has 2 mid to high major D1 players? I think that might be a bit of a reach.

Why do you believe that is a reach? Both already have division 1 offers. Maddie has 4 and she's a freshman. Lauren just recently was offered by nku.

I guess you need to define what you think is mid major D1. High major D1 is UConn, Notre Dame, etc. NKU is not mid major D1.
