Rowan County 54 West Carter 53

Agreed, any time you lose a player with that size and agility, it will hurt. Not the greatest player, but did a lot of little things well. -

I think that rule is rediculous. I can't tell you how many times I have seen a player, when subbed out by his coach, untucks his jersey before he reaches the bench. Should that be a technical as well? -
Woodford 69 Western Hills 53

Close game until the 4th when Woodford pulls away. Was an off night shooting for the Yellowjackets as they had many open opporutunities, just wouldn't fall. However, Western Hills pep band is AMAZING! -
Montgomery County 80 Paris 64

As stated before, if Paris is leading the #1 ranked team in the region, and as open as this region is, Paris is a contender right now if they can learn to keep thier cool and play team defense. -
Woodford County 91 Frankfort 76

I will say that I think Frankfort is one of the top 3 teams in that district. -

Exccuse me for not being exact, but the final score was almost a 30 point difference, 25 to be exact. My apologies. -
Montgomery County/Paris predictions
Touch The Line replied to mcraycraft's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The Montgomery and Paris games always seem to be close throughout most the game with Montgomery pulling away late. I think Montgomery's full court pressure might cause some issues if they can keep the speedy guards in front of them and not allow them to break that first line of pressure. Im going to go with MC by 18. -

Without trying to bash any teams here, with Franklin losing to Woodford by almost 30 without Johnson and also losing to Paris, don't like the odds! -
Montgomery County 77 Nicholas County 39
Touch The Line replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Regarding the JV game, a very young JV team made some silly mistakes to begin the game. Still would like to think they are at least 7 points better than Nicholas. Looks like the Indians couldn't overcome thier mental mistakes to begin the game and move past it. Hopefully they will learn from the entire experience. -

The Greenhill kid from Woodford is a very nice looking player, very under-rated IMO! -

Without Beckham playing I still think this is a big win for Woodford. Station still has at least one big name player in Morton while Woodford really has no other standout player other than Johnson, IMO this is a very nice win for Woodford. Woodford continues to look impressive on the Defensive end of the floor! -
Gateway Holiday Classic

Every year this tournament gets better teams and better talent coming to Mt. Sterling. Great several days of basketball. Two gyms in the same building right next to each other with staggered starting times so that there is action going on all the time! -
Prior to reading this post I would say that Harlan County might be one of the most physcial teams I have seen. Even though they play a lot of zone, they are very physical while playing it (bumping, I mean pounding cutters across the lane, boxing out HARD on shots), they will go through contact on offense, really fun to watch. However, much what you stated, some of thier physicality might be considered "dirty" and also "pointless". They usually have really good teams, but because of some silly fouls from the physical/dirty play, they lose players to fould trouble and they are not real deep on the bench costing them some games. Either way, I love watching them play.

Montgomery County 84 Menifee County 49
Touch The Line replied to mcraycraft's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Prewitt with 2 fouls early in the first quarter helped that sluggish start. But it was good for Montgomery to learn to play without Omar this early off in the season, will only help them later on. -

I read that story, now the administration is talking about terminating the program at Pikeville Middle for poor sportsmanship. But I agree with what you are saying, games like this are starting to get teams in trouble by winning too much. It is a must read article to understand the whole story, but its interesting. -
Not making excuses by any means, but Montgomery will take some time still to adjust to the new style and system of Coach Wise. Not sure if they have any talent at all, but I do know Menifee plays HARD all the time and that can give any team problems. I think Menifee may be able to keep it close for a while. Now I hope Montgomery pulls away early, but we will have to wait and see.

Who is the head coach at Lloyd?
-
Menifee will travel to Mt. Sterling to play Montgomery County. Menifee always plays hard and with a lot of energy, Montgomery is under new leadership, but has a lot of talent. I think this game will be closer than expected while the Indians still adjust to a new system after being under Griesser for the past 4 years. Hopefully those in Mt. Sterling are patient during this transition and learning process. Good luck to Tony Wise in his first game with the Indians. I like Montgomery by 14. Thoughts and predictions.

Where Does Pat Towles Rank in NKY History?
Touch The Line replied to Clyde's topic in KY Football (High School)
What was the quarterback that played for Cov Cath, think he graduated in 2000. He went on to have a great career at Hanover and has played many years (I think he still is) in the Arena leagues? -
Checking in: Woodford County
Touch The Line replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I wonder if Hundley will continue to run his offense as if Johnson is playing so that there will not be an adjustment period when he returns or if he has developed a new style offense to adjust to life without Jay????? Has anyone watched thier scrimmages to see whats going on? -
Cats' Pause 10th Region Preview
Touch The Line replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Not knowing who the starters will be they will most likely have either Keenan Kelley (6'3 F/C) or Tanner Combs (6'6 C) coming off the bench along with Sophomore Darius Jones who saw some minutes last year along with Zack Burton (high energy, good defender). Other than that they really do not have much varsity experience coming back from 8 down, but I will say this, they have an EXTREMELY talented young group. I would not be surprised to see a few freshman get some action and quite possibly an 8th grader or two get some minutes. MC has a 6'7 8th grader that could get some minutes if size is needed.
