A lot of firepower and stars in the quarterfinals tomorrow. Don;t forget about 5-6 2027 Allye Pennington from Franklin-Simpson. She transferred in from Tennessee and put up great numbers this season, 21.1 PPG 44.7% FG 46.4% 3-PT 76.3% FT 4.0 REBS. Absolutely deadly from beyond the arc. big time scorer and play maker.

That is why GRC is so tough to play they come hard for 32 minutes and tonight scored 29 points off 30 North Laurel turnovers. Continue to be impressed with 6-2 JR Mariella Claybrook from North Laurel 28 points on 11 of 14 from the field including one of one from beyond the arc, five of five free throws, and six blocked shots. Will graduate as a young senior, long wingspan and a high ceiling on potential.

I believe GRC is probably the best team in state but Assumption also has a ton of talent with Ashlinn James probably being the top player but the "X" factor is 6-0 2028 Kylie Moore who has come on strong for the Lady Rockets down the stretch. This bides well for Simon Kenton who can not be overlooked by anyone they play. I don't think the bright lights will faze GRC as they have made this trip several times.

Great Crossing outscored Frederick Douglass 13-2 in the second quarter.

Paul Laurence Dunbar trailed 37-25 in the third quarter but rallied to tie the score at 43-43 on a three point baskets by Eriyaune Daniels with 2:12 left in the game. The game remained tied and Frederick Douglass called a timeout with eight seconds remaining on the clock. The ball went to MK Bennett who made the extra pass and found 5-4 So. Eiona Atkins open for the game winning three point basket with four seconds remaining on the clock. Dunbar then turned the ball over and Douglass returns to the Sweet 16. Jaelee Knowles led Frederick Douglass with 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and three steals. Reagan Gregonis added eight points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two steals. MK Bennett recorded eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Assumption led 43-39 and outscored Sacred Heart 26-12 in the final quarter. Ashlinn James led Assumption with 21 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Kylie Moore added 17 points and nine rebounds. Se'Rae Bundrent-Palmer recorded 14 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Ava Moore chipped in with five points and nine rebounds. Eulaila Powell added four points, six rebounds, and two steals. Brianna Wilkins led Sacred Heart with 21 points including three three point baskets, six of eight free throws and four rebounds. Tootie Jordan added 14 points and five rebounds. Riley Gilvin recorded eight points and eight rebounds. Tahri Ralston chipped in with five points, five rebounds, and three assists. Emma Zutterman added three points, eight rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Mollie Johnston led Bullitt East with 28 points including nine of nine free throws, 12 rebounds, three assists, and one blocked shot. Anna Tinelli added 12 points including four of seven free throws, six rebounds, and four assists. Charley Petrowski recorded eight points including two three point baskets, and two assists. Lyla Packer added six points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Marryah Carr led Pleasure Ridge Park with 20 points including four of five free throws, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Kendra Lee added 15 points on five three point baskets, and four rebounds. JaLiasah Hamblen recorded 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Adrianna Bankston chipped in with five points and three rebounds.

Cam Steele added five points, three rebounds, and two assists. Frederick Douglass connected on 20 of 28 free throws.

Dunbar led 26-13 early in the second quarter but Franklin County rallied and led 48-43 with 6:06 left in the game then one of their key players Makiyia Wheeler fouled out. Dunbar then rallied and went on to defeat the Lady Flyers 58-56. Kyah Curtsinger led the victors with 18 points including five of eight free throws, and nine rebounds. Kaleigh Potts added 15 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Layla Flynn recorded 12 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Eriyaune Daniels chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets. Alese Goree pulled down eight rebounds. La'Kyiah Taylor led Franklin County with 22 points including two three point baskets, six of seven free throws, five rebounds, and four assists. Makiyia Wheeler added 12 points, 14 rebounds, and two assists. Haylee Hazelett recorded 11 points including seven of eight free throws and eight rebounds. Per Kal Oakes Matt Walls has resigned as head coach at Great Crossing. If this is indeed true should spark a lot of interest as the Lady Warhawks has some good young talent. I can see Matt returning in the future as a coach on the boy's side.

Unfortunately one of the Madison Central mainstays Luke Asher went down with an injury late in the first quarter and did not return. Nothing official yet but it did not look good. That would be a big loss if he is out for the Douglass game.
