And Towles was in the game and supposedly guarding him. -

What part of his game was "beast"???? He finished with maybe 9-11 points and a handful of rebounds, got dunked on, and gave up 26 to Bray (although all 26 were not on Towles, but a large majority was), not sure that falls into the "beast-mode" category. -
Region Player/Coach of the Year
Touch The Line replied to LCDAWGS19's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
To be player of the year I think you have to do more than have 2 steals in a game. Also, I do not think they look as much at your defensive stats (outside of rebounds maybe) as much as they do offensive stats. -

14 pages to this post, wow! First time I have logged on to the girls forum in a while, wanted to check out the thoughts people had after I heard about this score. All I have to say is that it will really help both teams defensive averages. -
Disguntled parent? Just a week ago there was a thread abouut coach of the year and his name was brought up, he loses a game and he should be out??????? Up 19 going into the fourth and they lose we blame it on the coach, but I have a hard time believing that Stiener told his kids to play NO defense, turn the ball over, make stupid mistakes, etc etc. He is not out on the floor making those mistakes, players are. Again, he probably could/should had made some changes, but IMO I couldnt put all the blame on the coach.

I should have been more specific about the D1, yes D1 for track, D1 basketball no. I wonder how he does academically? I think Schueller's record is 7'2? He went to Georgia Tech on a track scholarship. -

Great win for the Juggs and Coach Key, great turnout. On the topic of the Bray kid I've seen a lot of D1 comments after after watching the kid there is no way he can play D1. IMO D3 or JUCO at best. He has athletic ability out the rear end, but that only gets you so far. He has little to no low post game and his ball handling skills are shakey. He has a decent jump shot if he is left open, but I am curious to see if he can put the ball on the floor and knock down jump contested jump shots, Towles never came out on him. He has been a good high school player by relying on his athletic ability, but it would be interesting to see how he would do when matched up with a player with equal athletic ability.By no means am I trying to bash the kid, just making an honest opinion. On another note, I would love to see Bray and current state record holder Keith Schuler (St. Henry c/o 99) have a dunk contest, two of the best leapers in NKY I have ever seen. -

I did not mention Black because he was on the list, Jacobs wasnt, but yes they are both forces. -

Can someone with some time post the schools they are from and possibly their stats? -
10th Region Top 10 Players

Jacobs from Paris is one that SHOULD be in the top 10, but where he did not play all year (for whatever reasons) I can understand why he would be left off. -
10th Region Coach / Player of the Year
Touch The Line replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
No brainers! I think if Tyler Black plays all year he might win, but he didnt. Congrats to both and well deserved! -
Yes they were, but the point I was trying to make is that Van Cleeves 3's IMO were more of a surprise and more of a lift. He is not known for being a shooter. Much like last year when Montgomery backed off of Daniels and he hit those 3 threes in the first half, I thought that Van Cleeves threes were much like that situation.
-
This game could have been a lot different. MC had 4-5 shots rattle in and out early in the game. They choose to lay off of Van Cleeve, much like they did last year leaving J Daneils and Van Cleeve stepped up and hit those shots. Had he not hit those, who knows. IMO he was the difference maker in tonights game. Montgomery started to chip away at the lead and I thought there for a while when Fatkins starting rolling, he traveled about 5-6 times on his post moves prior to putting a dribble down. Coach Wise frantically tried to get the officials to call it, which they finally did at a time when the game was out of reach. I thought at times the MC press game Clark some issues. However, as a basketball fan I loved watching Clark play, they play with such attitude and intensity on the defensive end of the floor and they share the ball so well on offense. Good group to have.

I agree they do have talent, but talent does not always translate into BASKETBALL players. However, congrats to the Juggs on making it to the championship and back to regions. When was their last appearance?

Already At The House
Touch The Line replied to Touch The Line's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
(See the following quote, that was my thinking) Im not saying that Brossart should have won or Harrison should have won (they could have gone either way), but they both were two of the top teams in the 10th that are no longer in the tournament that could have made noise. -
Who are some of top teams from each region that have exited the post season so far. Right now I would say Henry Clay from the 11th, Brossart and Harrison from the 10th, and Holy Cross from the 9th........................who else is at the house?

Coach Key is one of the most underrated coaches in NKY!

Pendleton County/ Deming Predictions
Touch The Line replied to NKYThreeFer's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
PC by 30 unless Deming holds the ball. -
There was a conversation on ESPN this morning about PER (Player Effeciency Rating) and how we can use that to evaluate players. Stats are just one way to assess a player, we would have to look at more than that.

Montgomery County / Paris predictions
Touch The Line replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Is Jacobs on the team this week? If so this game could be interesting if they Indians allow him to dominate as he did in the first meeting. Had he not fouled out Paris could have won that game. However, I think Coach Wise will have these boys ready.
