Who are some of the most physical teams around the state?

Featured Replies

I haven't seen enough games/scrimmages to judge for myself but from what I have seen here are some teams who will pose problems for finesse squads. Obviously my take is limited to NKY but would like to hear about other teams around the state.

Cooper (just big top to bottom and attack you)

Highlands (especially when the football kids join)

Simon Kenton ( not much height but they body up and are aggressive)

Are you talking "physical" as in pound it inside to the post? Or physical as in bump you, hit you, knock you down, scrap for every ball?

Brossart, they always play that grind you in the ground defense. Hold, Bump, push...............

Offensively too... And it's not a "dirty" type of play. They just wear you down physically and mentally. They just wait for you to make mistakes then strike.

Prior to reading this post I would say that Harlan County might be one of the most physcial teams I have seen. Even though they play a lot of zone, they are very physical while playing it (bumping, I mean pounding cutters across the lane, boxing out HARD on shots), they will go through contact on offense, really fun to watch. However, much what you stated, some of thier physicality might be considered "dirty" and also "pointless". They usually have really good teams, but because of some silly fouls from the physical/dirty play, they lose players to fould trouble and they are not real deep on the bench costing them some games. Either way, I love watching them play.

Brossart, year in and year out, are just tough. They are so stingy on defense, and don't you dare try to cut across their paint.

Brossart and Highlands are the teams I usually think of. But basically thats because Im thinking of "WILLIE BALL". But I went and saw Brossart vs St Henry on Tuesday and "WILLIE BALL" is still in effect. Hard nosed, hard hitting, strong handed defensive play. Thats Bishop Brossart basketball.

I think the 10th overall is more physical than other local regions.

I would agree with that. Brossart, Scott, and Pendleton County are just a few from the 10th who have success scrapping, even when they have lesser talent.

Sounds like Gallatin County to me...
