TrueBlueWildcat Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 IMO SV is either 1 or 2 and has to be one of the bigger favorites to make the championship game. Their bracket is quite a surprise but when it comes to basketball anything can happen!
Wireman Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Shelby Valley has a great shot to win it all this season. That would be huge for mountain basketball...
passtheball Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 As Frakes of the Courier-Journal stated, the state tourney is not very deep where it only has 5 of the 16 teams in the top 20, whereas the 7th region tourney had 7 of the 8 teams within the the top 20. 1. Ballard 2. Scott County 3. SV One team that always seems to have a great showing, if not at least one game, is Paducah Tilghman. For whatever reason, that's a team name I would fear most outside of the other known teams.
DragonFire Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 My question about Shelby Valley is are they a top 4 team, or a championship threat because of the draw? Let me be clear, I think they'd be a championship threat anywhere in the bracket, but would they be as much if they were say, in the 11th region draw? You guys are placing them over a team like Christian County, who beat them on their home floor. They are the 5th rated team left according to the BGP rankings, but are the top rated team on their side of the bracket.

passtheball Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Warren Central is scary in this tourney. I've heard several folks say they are playing excellent ball and are extremely well coached.

Who says they couldn't win a rematch? Anyway, I think they are a top contender because of the draw they received. I think if all the top teams had made it then they would be closer to 8 or 9.

B-Ball-fan Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Good catch :thumb: I couldn't find anything more recent in my search. Lafayette was a tough team and the way Scott Co. manhandled them makes we wonder if any team could possibly get past their relentless dominant style of play. :scared: The Cardinals obviously are out to prove something. Any team facing them in the Sweet 16 are in for the game of their lives. They just don't look beatable, but as a 9th Region fan, I hope that I'm wrong.
bigblueinsanity Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 1. Scott Co. 2. Ballard 3. Christian Co 4. Mason County 5. Shelby Valley 6. Warren Central 7. Corbin 8. West Jess 9. Shelby Co 10. PT 11. KCC 12. North Hardin 13. Muhlenburg Co 14. Butler 15. Newport 16. East Carter
funtowatch Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 In my opinion only, and in no way am I saying I am right or wrong, but I would rank the top 5 teams like this... 1. Ballard- Just for the fact they made it out of that region! 2. Scott County 3. Christian County 4. Shelby Valley 5. Warren Central I feel like these teams have the best shot on winning it all. I also think Newport could make some noise, but as far as winning it all, I would pick one of these 5.
kentucky*orbit Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I would have to move Mason County into the top 3 based on the HCA we have at Rupp.
