Shaun Alexander VS Mike West?

Yds per carry

West - 12.99

Alexander - under 11

Yards per game

West - 212.5

Alexander - 211.3

Rushing Touchdowns career per carry

West - 93 -one TD for every 8.15 rushes - or .122 TD's per carry

Alexander - 105 - one TD for every 9.64 rushes - or .103 TD's per carry

So basically Mike West gained more yardage per carry and scored more touchdowns per carry! he had almost 25% less carries over his career and had to share the ball in 98 and 99 with Gerred Parker who is the states all-time leader in recieving yards and scored around 52 TD's himself.

So the way I see it is less opportunity but better production equals a slighter better high school back......

I personally like some of the great Belfry backs, but even Belfry fans won't argue West was better after he put up 414 yds against them..

There is such a thing as level of competition to consider ... and Alexander has a big edge there.

Westsider,

Who? Give me 5 backs that put up better numbers in the areas I mentioned? I agree that players can put up big numbers against lesser opponents so tell me who did, give me better numbers by 5 people who had at least 5,000 total yards career and say at least 75 td's?

I hope your right.. I love to learn about these players, but I just don't know allot of numbers that stack up against these.

Numbers mean little in this debate.

94 Camel, I agree that Alexander played in the pros, but that doesn't make him necessarily better in high school. I love Alexander, and agree he could arguably be the best ever RB to play in KY(as the question asks), but the best during high school is not as cut and dried and some people like to think.

Marshall. But once again, that has nothing to do with high school. After high school Paul Hornung may be the only one that compares to Alexander and I will be the first to admit that. But during high school West stacks up against anyone, period.
