theguru
What does Dayton need to do to improve in 2007? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
All Play No Work
1. Get numbers. The key to be sucessful in the new 1-A will be to have decent numbers to compete with what's left in 1A at the top and to separate yourself from the bottom. 2. Keep premier players in the system and not jumping to bigger or more sucessful programs. 3. Be like Avis to Hertz. Declare yourself #2 trying to knock off #1 (Beechwood) and back it up. 4. Keep coaching staff intact or have someone on staff ready to step in immediately. 5. Keep community support up.
no1fan
If the very talented Sophmore class can mesh with the very talented Senior class then Dayton will be hard to beat. They must continue to improve defensively and improve depth at every position.
stickymitts
Honestly, just keep improving and progressing as a program.

Qryche11
Keep the kids in the weight room and build their confidence off of this season. Its year to year at the small schools and if you can get them believing one day at a time you can get good results. It can also go the other way, if they hang their head one day, it could get contagious.
JOHNDUNHOFT
Over the past years the Pee Wee program has had some good players and teams and I think it begins there. Over the years I coached against some good Dayton teams and feel they just need to get the younger kids involved and stay involved through school. sml007
How many sophomores to be figure to start? How did the Dayton Freshman Team do last year? Starters? Maybe only a couple, but will add a lot of depth and get a lot of playing time. Freshman team was 4-4. Beat Beechwood, lost to Newport in OT, and really competed very well in every game considering there were only 13 ironmen kids on the team. sml007
That is impressive. What does the incoming Freshman class look like? Not really sure. The sequence has been big class - small class - big class - small class. Dayton will have 18 seniors, 6 or 7 juniors and 10-15 sophomores.
hurricane
They need to keep Lickert in the head position. He is young, talented, motivated and a good offensive mind. I don't blame him for interviewing with Conner, but Dayton needs to be more proactive in keeping him around.
no1fan
Lickert staying or going doesn't matter, the building blocks have been placed credited to Lickert. It is up to Dayton to take what they have been given and keep improving. The talent is there, the parents and community are coming together things need to stay on track. Lickert staying or going does matter, alot!! One thing that kids need most is consistancy. Especially at a school like Dayton, where people view it as a stepping stone, or a lower tier job. The kids are hurt when the adults, coaches and teachers that they bond with and look up to leave after a year or two. You said so yourself they need to stay on track. That includes Lickert.
