A bunch of guys from work went tonight and sat a few rows off of first base. Free ticket and I opted not to go because of the severe weather that ended up being severely over hyped.

Good to see our Redlegs pick up their 1st W of the season.

6+ innings and 1 ER so far this year for the bullpen. Finnegan was awesome.

The Lorenzen & Iglesias combo ain't bad! I hope the roles become a bit more defined as the season goes on, but those two were solid late last year & could develop into a solid end of the game duo.

Going from memory here, but let's break it down:

C Barnhart - Better in 2017 with a year under his belt.

1B Votto - even.

2B Phillips over Peraza - I give a slight edge to Phillips because Peraza is still a bit of an unknown. But obviously looking ahead I would rather have Peraza.

SS Cozart - even

3B Suarez - Better this year with more experience

LF Duvall - Better this year

CF Hamilton - Better this year.

RF Bruce over Schebler - not close.

SP Disco better than Feldman

SP Finnegan better this year

SP Igelsias better then Rookie Davis

SP Garret vs Simon ... hard to say till we see what Garrett does

SP Straily better than Arroyo

Maybe an edge to 2016, which is not good.

Bullpen - 2017 better and it isn't close.

VOR I'll play along:

C: Barnhart could be better but isn't good either way;

1B: Votto is Votto

2B: BP had a decent year last year -- .291 average, .320 OBP, 11 HR, 64 RBI. I'd imagine he was rated very highly defensively, too. I like Peraza but he's a rookie in his first full season.

SS - Cozart has shown he's basically going to hit .250 with an OBP just under .300. He'll hit 10-15 HR's and play solid defense. He'll be traded in July. The question is who fills the spot? Peraza & Herrera are both better suited at 2B. Reds signed the young Cuban SS

3B: Big year for Suarez, both on the field & at the dish. I'm open to Suarez moving to a corner outfield spot & bringing up Senzel in a year or two. For 2017, I predict Suarez's #'s will improve.

LF - Duvall: I don't foresee Duvall hitting 33 HR & driving in 103 again this year. Regression (really hope I'm wrong).

CF - I hope Hamilton can improve; I'll predict 2017 is better than 2016

RF - I'd take Bruce obviously but hope Winker finishes 2017 in one of the corner outfield spots.

Why are you comparing Iglesias to Rookie Davis? Iglesias only made 5 starts last year. You should be comparing Davis to Cody Reed, John Lamb or Tim Aldeman.

Simon was terrible last year. I don't see anyway possible that Garrett is worse than the 2-7 and 9.36 ERA that Simon posted last year.
