TIGER1988
Let's not overthink this. Everyone knows it is illegal and unconstitutional what he proposed, this is nothing more than rabble-rousing. He is brilliant at doing it, as dangerous as it may be. Absolutely, NOT. There is nothing illegal or unconstitutional about it. Been done before, and NEEDS to be done now. Better hope, then, that your religion isn't the one being targeted at some point in time.:thumb:
Habib
Let's also not forget Trump has, in addition to discussing banning immigration of Muslims (which is NOT what Carter did), discussed forcing Muslims to register with the government and to carry ID cards noting their religion. These are not the foot-in-mouth soundbites of a politician speaking extemporaneously. These are deliberate provocations and they appear to be quite popular and evoke considerable passion. This is chilling.

This is chilling. You are somewhat correct. Carter didn't ban Muslims, he banned Iranians. He also forced those already in the US to report to immigration centers within a certain amount of time (I believe it was 30 days), DEPORTED those that had any questionable record or invalid visas (approximately 15,000), and put restrictions on those lucky enough to remain in the US. That has not been said by Trump or anyone else. You guys need to bone up on some history.
capt278
Serious question. Was Jimmy Carter's action directed toward a specific religion? Did Carter stop certain immigrants from coming in and deport certain immigrants? It's a yes or no question. Or, is it irrelevant because he is a Democrat? Yes, he banned Iranians. What percentage of Iranians are Muslim?
TIGER1988
Serious question. Was Jimmy Carter's action directed toward a specific religion? The answer is YES. According to census numbers 99.4% of Iranians are Muslim. The next answer is YES. It wasn't just an action it was several actions. The last answer is YES. Democrats do not want to talk about that because the Lame Stream Lying Socialist Media won't talk about it either.

Or, is it irrelevant because he is a Democrat? Yes, he banned Iranians. What percentage of Iranians are Muslim? An enormously high percentage. Here's my question. Do Muslims only live in Iran? There are something like 1.6 billion (with a b) Muslims. Do they all live in Iran? Gotta be a pretty crowded place.
THE SHERIFF
Discrimination against a religion or a nationality is wrong. If you believe that Trumps resolution was discriminatory, how was Carters actions not?

THE SHERIFF
As a society we have moved so far to the ends of the political spectrum that we can't hear each others ideas, our career politicians have taught us to be this way. Like Trump or not he has fired up the minds of the American people! There's an old saying that says "if we're all thinking alike, then somebody ain't thinking".
