December 9, 201510 yr Discrimination against a religion or a nationality is wrong. If you believe that Trumps resolution was discriminatory, how was Carters actions not? The US ended its diplomatic relations with Iran in 1980 over the hostage crisis. That means we no longer kept an Iranian embassy and no longer recognized their visas or passports. We don't have diplomatic relations with North Korea either. Or Cuba until very recently. It's a matter of governmental relations between two states. To equate diplomatic relations to rejecting any immigrant based on their nominal religious belief irrespective of national origin is so categorically different that it boggles my mind you all are straining to make such a connection. This is akin to saying we will no longer accept non-white immigrants or will no longer accept female immigrants.

Just a pet peeve of mine. It would be racist if he said ban every person of Persian or Middle eastern races decent.

Religiousist doesn't have the same tone, and most Americans probably struggle to spell or understand xenophobic effectively. Your point is well taken though.

Trump in his comments and Carter in his actions. While not exact, Trump's comments and Carter's actions were similar. I find it laughable at the way some will go to twist and turn to say "yeah, but". It doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to see that Trump's comments would effect Muslims and that Carter's actions did effect Muslims. I agree, some of the same posters that like to point out the difference it Trump and Carter is that Islam is a religion and Muslims come from different countries, are also the same posters that say Trump is racist.
December 9, 201510 yr I have to disagree here. That has not been said by Trump or anyone else. You guys need to bone up on some history. The time has not yet come for Trump to throw out that idea. As of now, he needs the Christians in America in a tizzy, thinking he is their political savior.
