The POTUS has that ability. So while we may disagree with what he has said, it is legal. The last POTUS to do so was a Democrat.

If there is a difference in the two scenarios it is this: Carter blocked Iranians. A Nationality. Trump is using the term Muslims. A religion. An Iranian, technically, as to be from the geographic region of Iran. A Muslim can be from anywhere and is tantamount to saying: No more Jews, No more Hindus, No more Christians.

December 9, 201510 yr We have already defined and set immigration quotas on immigrants from countries already. Saying we will limit Syrian refugees (which has been done) is one thing. Saying we will block Muslim immigrants impacts not only Middle Eastern immigrants, but immigrants from virtually every nation.

The obvious statement that should of been made was we need to check our visa program in Muslim dominated countries with a history of terrorism. Some may of been offended by that , but it would of gone over a lot better than this terrible statement.
