Trump has suggested stopping immigrants from coming in. Jimmy Carter actually did it. The POTUS has that ability.

Carter blocked Iranians. A Nationality.

 

Trump is using the term Muslims. A religion.

 

An Iranian, technically, as to be from the geographic region of Iran.

 

A Muslim can be from anywhere and is tantamount to saying: No more Jews, No more Hindus, No more Christians.

We have already defined and set immigration quotas on immigrants from countries already. Saying we will limit Syrian refugees (which has been done) is one thing. Saying we will block Muslim immigrants impacts not only Middle Eastern immigrants, but immigrants from virtually every nation.
