Hypothetical - Chapman for Stanton?

Featured Replies

One of my good friend brought this up in a recent discussion......Obviously this would never happen in real life...Would you now trade Aroldis Chapman for Giancarlo Stanton?...His Argument the Fish would love the Cuban in the rotation or closing and the Reds would love Stanton's bat in LF and the cleanup spot for years to come...

As an interesting aside, did you know that in the 2007 Draft the Reds drafted Cozart, Frazier and Lotzkar before Stanton went off the board to the Marlins...

What do you guys think? I think it would be a no brainer and I would pull the trigger...We would also no longer have to debate Chapman's role on the team :D

Yep I'd do it too.....when some of the Reds relievers get healthy.

Sure why not, if we are just going to leave him in the bullpen and not use him to his full ability I would do it.

So if Chapman was being used to his full ability which is in the rotation you guys would decline this trade?

No.

We wouldn't be having this hypothetical debate if the Reds would have just kept Jonny Gomes.

Marlins FO would hang up at "Sta"...

Your right that's what I tried saying...He is one of those guys that you don't trade, I'm not sure there is any 1 player I would trade for him...

The Marlins would laugh you out of baseball if you proposed that deal.

...and you have your answer. :D

I don't know if I'd go THAT far, but yeah he's pretty darn near untouchable IMO.

You know you're getting old when you read a headline like this and the first thing that enters your mind is...Mike Stanton is still pitching? :D

The Marlins are good at 3B but in ANY discussion like this I think it's required to mention Evan Longoria's crazy club-friendly contract. I think the Rays have favorable options through 2016.
