  1. 114 if you play Aug 18. As of April 7.
  2. What teaching jobs are vacant in Pineville? This usually has an impact on who they hire unless they are willing to make a position.
  3. One criteria for voting was fan support. Rock gets invited to a bowl game every year and has to turn down several bowl games because of being booked up. Bowl committees like to invite teams that bring a crowd with a respectable program. In 2001 AAA State Championship game the attendance record was broken at over 9,000. Presently, the 2001 and 2002 ranks 2nd and 3rd for most attendance. 9th and JV average at least 8-10 wins a year. Tradition is older at Russell but Rock has caught up on a lot of things the past several years. Facilities have improved greatly, but maybe not as much as Russell. This will be a close call. May take a FG in OT to win.
  4. I understand where you are coming from ukbellco14. Seems like you have always been complimentary of The Rock on this board. Of course, you have to pull for your team. Hope it is either The Rock or Bell Co in the semi's.
  5. Rock and Bell have one thing going for them that the others do not that are listed amongst the top 5 with them such as Highlands-Lexington Catholic-Covington Catholic. The semi's is played on grass this year whomever comes out of that region.
  6. Maybe a big name coach could keep the players at Pineville and not transfer to Bell Co.
  7. I hate to see Trae give up the game too. He is a great kid and fine football player. I have seen him play and he does have a lot of ability.
  8. How can JCHS be 3rd with all that talent. Ashland and Lawrence must be pretty good next year.
  9. It is only for graduated seniors. Underclassmen cannot play. It would be illegal. It cost about 3,000 dollars to go. You play two games and stop off at Hawaii for a couple of days on the way back. If you can afford it it is OK. It will not help you get a scholarship at a college. They will take anyone with the money. A lot of kids get invited. They have to invite everybody hoping to get enough players to have a team. As far as being prestigious, I don't think so, since all seniors have a chance to go. I do believe that Tom Pozey is the coach. Not trying to say not go, but just let you know that hundreds get invitations. If they invite underclassmen it is because they don't know you are not a graduate from high school. GO if you can, it would be fun and a good experience.
  10. Regions 12,13, 14, 15, 16 don't have very few private schools and the ones there are very small, even lucky enough to put together a team. I don't know about the number of private schools in the other regions. Was it a couple of years ago that Trinity was in the final basketball game and of course Lec Cath always is good. On the other half of the gender, the girls private schools do pretty well in basketball. Most of the girls teams that will win their region will be public but the top teams will be private. Same way in other girls sports, especially volleyball. One answer to one of your questions about coaching. NO. The coaches are not better in private schools in football, but the talent year end and out is for sure better.
  11. 3 Wishes is correct. I have seen it myself. The kid is stacked from top to bottom. Come spend a week at the Rock and see the work going on. 5 days during 4th block and M-W-F after school till 5:00. Got the time. Come on down. Working hard again for another regional championship.
  12. When I played HS ball you could play until you turned 20, then you were done. It was changed to turning 19 on three separate dates. Fall sports was before Aug 1, Winter sports was before Nov 1 ( I think ) and Spring sports was before Feb 1 ( I think ) But I know there were 3 cutoff dates. I maybe wrong on the winter and spring dates, but don't think so. I don't remember the exact year this new rule was adopted by KHSAA. I do agree that it would create a major problem if the date was changed for one particular athlete.
  13. They better read up on the rules. You can start on the Monday following your last basketball game (boys or girls) and you have 15 calendar school days beginning on that Mon to get 10 practice days. You are allowed to practice 2 hours each day. No weekends. You can't require baseball and track to participate in practice. You must follow all eligibility rules such as grades(passing 75% of classes each week) You can't scrimmage other teams.
  14. Along side him at G will be 6'1 294 lbs. Other tackle 6'3 310 lbs and the other G 5'11 288 lbs. Two TE that are 6'2 210 and 235 and the center is 225. Not a bad lineup for a HS team.
  15. EKU didn't offer him anything. They missed out on a good player.
  16. I met his dad in Cinn at a clinic this weekend. Great guy. He told me the same thing about the H back position, but about strength, I was told he is pretty dang strong. Sounds like he has been in the weight room a lot.
  17. you are exactly right ladiesballcoach. Nothing can happen during this time. No open gym or weights. All coaches should know this by now. KHSAA sends out reminders each year about this. New head coaches better be aware of this rule. The AD and principal better remind coaches and keep tabs on this rule.
  18. A head coach should have the authority to schedule his games. I am sure Bell Co is using the money game to get them back on the schedule. Is Bell Co having a problem getting teams to play them? Maybe they should let up when the games get out of hand. That would help to keep teams on the schedule.
  19. That was a good move from Scott Co to Rockcastle Co. Not as bad in my opinion.
  20. Why do you think the Rockcastle game will be a loss?I disagree. Corbin has many more players retunig than Rock. They will have many more athletes on the field than Rock. Rock lost many good players on both sides of the ball.
