TRUE. Every year is a different year. Rock and Bell are great rivalries. 2006 could go either way. It is by no means a domination of either team.

Rock lost Mathew Burkhart at QB, a 3 year starter. Someone will have to step up to replace him or the offense could be hurting. Defense should be ok. Two possible players to take the QB position is Burkhart's younger brother, Zach or Izak McQueary. Both started on defense this season and Izak started at WR and ran TB some. Both have potential to fill the position. And both have played QB as freshman and through middle school. Rock will have the biggest and strongest line possibly ever at Rockcastle Co. All this does'nt mean they have a lock on another regional championship.

I may be wrong but since 1999 when the new 3A Region was formed the Regional Champions have been: The year ROCK moved from 2A to 3A. 1999 Lawrence Co 2000 Rockcastle Co 2001 Rockcastle Co 2002 Rockcastle Co 2003 Mason Co 2004 Bell Co 2005 Rockcastle Co Rockcastle Co has been the only team to make it to the final game in 2001 and 2002.

Yes only two Qb's are selected. Of course there have been instances when a player that excelled at another position that also started QB was selected to play the other position at could have had a chance to play the 3rd slot at QB, one instance that comes to mind is Cole Draughn of Pulaski a couple of years ago he was selected as a LB but he could've easily backed up some at the QB postion. When you have 24 postions to fill and backups are needed at almost every position, then there can't be many more than 2QB's selected because there are only so many people allowed on the roster. Somewhere around the mid 40's I believe.

Is the coaches salary inviting enough to draw a good coach? Do all the Jefferson Co schools pay the same for their coaching staffs?

Holbrook was a great QB, but the two QB's are voted on by coaches. Does he have a chance at QB or could he play another position with his athletic abilities? BLume certainly deserves it too, but I wonder if he can beat out the top two or three RB in the state.

I know it is early, but is there any talk about who will be the next head football coach? Just wonder if someone local or an outsider will have a chance at this opportunity. Could be a great job with a lot of administration support. Transportation for players and all that would be a key factor.

Looks like a great community there. Very nice neighborhood. Drove thru there once and was really amazed at things. Don't know much about the football program except it never wins. Don't know why. Are there athletes in the school? How are the other sports programs? Who does the football program compete with?

Who is in the running for the QB position at Lex Catholic? There is a very good nucleus of players returning, mostly skilled.

peopleschamp- I believe you were referring to #74 for Rock. He is 6'6 295 and has great speed and footwork and is exceptionally strong. He is a junior. Rock retruns that whole line you saw against Catholic except they lose the center but that junior class is loaded with lineman waiting to play there were two lineman that had to sit the bench last year that would normally start on any Rocket team but you can only play five. Rock also gets their TB back and their MLB will be more seasoned since he is just a sophmore. The strongest lineman had to sit last year because of a torn ACL he will be a junior and is tough as nails, maybe the best and strongest since at the Rock and that is surpassing the Leger kid that went to UK. The thing about Bell County is that they didn't lose much but what they did lose will hurt them a little. Hunter's presence will be missed because last year teams had to double and triple team him at times, now those extra defenders will be inside the box to stop the run. Contrary to waht some poster mentioned about Bell not losing any lineman, I believe they lost at least 3 of their starters on both sides if not 4.

The head coaches vote for the coach. A head assistant is selected to help the head coach and will then become the head coach the following year. I don't know yet who the head assistant coach will be for 2006. Nominations were made and has been voted on already. The selection process for the team has worked well the past few years. KY has been winning. I believe the last 5 out of 6 games. I will admit there has been a few very good players not chosen but the team is limited to 40 players. 2 QB's and 8 players are voted by coaches. The selection committee chooses the other 30.

I hate to hear that about Coach Adams. I remember him coaching at Pineville. He was truly a great coach and person.

Rockcastle Co and Clay Co had an alumni game a few years ago. Dn't remember the year, but believe it was in early 90's. It was FULL PADS. I do remember that Rock won in a hard hitting game by a bunch of old guys.
