Of the choices above, pick which school that has the best overall football program. That includes all the following:

* All level of play - 9th 10th 11th 12th

* Fan Support

* Coaches

* Wins

* Titles

* Facilities

* Etc.

I mean include everything in your result, not just this years success or failure but all time. Which school is the best in football overall.

Past choices have been --

Ashland (82%)

Boyle County (33%) -- edged Beechwood (28%)

Covington Catholic (44%) -- Corbin had 36%

Danville (79%)

Elizabethtown (56%)

Franklin-Simpson (28%) -- Fort Knox was second with 22%

Glasgow (39.4%) -- George Rogers Clark was a close second with 36.8%

Highlands (76.5%)

Iroquois (100%) -- in a squeaker

Johnson Central (40.8%)

Knox Central (38.9%) -- edging Knott Central (37.2%) by a vote

Lexington Catholic (50%) -- Lloyd Memorial had 14%

Male (53%) -- Mayfield was second with 21%

Newport Central Catholic (79.6%)

Owensboro Catholic (52%)

Paducah Tilghman (31.1%) -- Edged Pikeville by two votes (29.2%)

So of the choices, which includes all the football playing schools in Kentucky that begin with the letter 'R', which one is best?

Russellville has more state championships than anyone on the list I think....

True true, but you know the song most voters are singing.......

"What Have You Done For Me Lately"

Rockcastle would beat Russell year in and year out but Russell dominates their region and lately the state more than anyone else on the list.

Russell has been a consistant playoff contender for longer than Rockcastle. Rockcastle has had a pretty good run for the last decade or so but not so much before that. As for who wins year in and year out. Who knows?

Russellville with there long history used to be a A power but it has been a while.

As far as seating is concerned I'm not sure about Russell, Rock has 3,300 seats available after they installed new bleachers this year. As far as wins are concerned in the modern era Rock owns that over Russell.

Since 1990:

Rock 161-40 80.1%

Russell 144-54 72.7%

Since 2000:

Rock 68-14 82.9%

Russell 63-17 78.8%

Rock has been to the State twice and Russell once in this span. Russell has 1 trophy in this span.

Not sure when Russell became a school, but Rock is only 33 years old.

Russell would be the overall best I think. Rockcastle would be the better of the two over the past 15 years but not by much. My vote goes to Russell.

Just curious but does Russell have a freshmen and JV team? I know Rock has had each of these for the past 18 years that play a full 10 game schedule.

Russell has one of the best facilities in the state (at least the last time I was there I thought so). It is much better than Rockcastles IMO.

Also although Larkey is a good coach, Ivan is a legendary coach.

Russell was a contender in AAA back in the 80's/early 90's and their other State Championship besides the 2005 AA was in AAA. I can't believe I'm about to say this.......BUT Russell has a rich tradition of 30+ years..... So I guess we could agree that they were on the map way before Rockcastle County got their feet wet. ;)

I would like to see the winning % since 1973 between these 2 teams.

Russell's Henry R. Evans stadium officially seats 5,000 but can hold more than that. It is a very nice facility.

As for wins, Russell has been playing football since 1926 with an overall record of 500-318-24 (2 state championships, 9 regional championships, 16 district championships). Rockcastle cannot match Russell's history of being a consistant winner on the gridiron.

Since 1926, when Russell began playing football, they have won 59.3% of their games. Their record is 500-318-24.

Since 1970 Russell has won 66.7% of their games. Their record is 283-139-2.

Since 1973 Russell has won 66.8% of their games. Their record is 262-130-0.

Maybe someone can tell what Rockcastle's record is during this time?
