  1. Rockcastle County Coach Tom Larkey 1985-present (23) London High School Coach Tony Saylor 1984-present (24) RCHS 1976-1979 Coach Chris Larkey 1990-present (18) RCHS 1985-1987 Coach Adam Coleman 1998-present (10) RCHS 1985-1988 Coach Dackery Larkey 2002-present (6) RCHS 1997-2000 Coach Scott Parkey 2003-present (5) RCHS 1988-1991 Coach Josh Martin 2003-present (5) RCHS 1995-1998 *Both Parkey and Martin spent several years as coaches at the middle school before switching to the high school.
  2. Why would you want to include high salaries for the best jobs? There is more than high pay involved. None of the jobs in High school football pay a lot of money. It is support from administration and community that far exceeds the pay for the best jobs. A lot of winning programs do not mean the coaches get paid more than others.
  3. Great game and very cold. The coldest game I can ever remember. But the Rock vs Cov Cath in 2001 semi-finals was the best game I remember. Rock won on a rainy Sat afternoon 17-14 to advance to the state finals for the first time.
  4. Make that 22 years starting on his 23rd. Tony Saylor has been there with Larkey the entire time. Son Chris just finished his 17th year. All assistant coaches played at the Rock.
  5. You haven't been keeping up with high school football lately. Believe me, Clay Co will be the toughest team on Harlan's schedule. They are loaded for next two seasons. Leading passer in the state last season and two outstanding receivers will return. They did lose a very good RB but return some good linemen.
  6. Having so many weapons at RB will be key. They have the best of all worlds in the backfield. With 3 kids that possess all different kind fo looks. Cody Mize is quick and speedy, 2nd leading rusher on the team last year as a 10th grader. Dakota Mcferron, quick and powerful, ran for over 2400 yards in JV and Freshmen last year as a 9th grader. Casey Hayes, resembles a Dusty Miller as he is strong, short and cut. The only difference is Casey has as much power as Dusty did speed, vice versa. Casey I think cleaned over 325lbs as a 10th grader last year. Started MLB as well.
  7. Head coaches vote for the 2 QB's. Two players are voted by head coaches in 4 different regions. This makes a total of 10. The other 34 are selected by a committee. Petrino and Kaimin are the QB's.
  8. Brad Durham from Rockcastle Co and Hibbard from South Laurel are on the team. Both will be OL. Prestonsburg has a player on the team, probably a DL. That is it as far as I know.
  9. What is the rest of the schedule besides Johnson Central?
  10. Sorry about that Ram. I hadn't seen the thread. Guru, you can close my thread.
  11. When will the KY All Star team be announced? The committee usually meets in Feb to decide the team, and I know they must contact the players to make sure they want to play. Has this been completed? Joey Downs, I believe will be the head coach, if not mistaken. Who will be the Head Assistant?
  12. It would be ashame to let the program fold. What is going on?
  13. A principal in not allowed to hire their spouse for a head coach position.
  14. Bell should coast through the district in 07. After that will be tough.
  15. The KHSAA set up the district games. It was set up to play early because the district has to play in the 1st two rounds of the playoffs. That way #1 and #4 seeds will not play the 1st round after the 10th game. Wish it was left the way it was. Playing the other district. KHSAA has to mess it all up.
  16. Thanks Tall Trees. Rock had another great season. You did the same. Congrats to David Bird.
  17. I agree. Brent is a great player, especially on defense. Signing for Auburn and not getting much recognition from WYMT is pitiful. In the past, there was a 1st team defense showing each position. The coaches voted on that. That is the way it should have been this year. I can see an overall offense and defensive line, but there should be individuals mentioned in this group. I do agree that during the season that Rockcaslte had the best offensive line as a group despite their showing at JC.
  18. In the past the Mountain Head Coaches were allowed to vote. This year they were not. The entire vote was left up to the WYMT sports. It was better and more fair when the coaches were deciding on the team.
  19. Unfair poll in my opinion. Rockcastle Co does not get the WYMT channel except for down town Mt. Vernon. Johnson Co had more voters and knew about the poll. Dusty is as good as Grimm, and both deserved the recognition. Grimm was a very good RB. Glad to see that Dusty made the WYMT 1st team RB selection.
  20. Congratulations to Brad Durham from Rockcastle Co for making the 1st team all state off. line. Brad placed 2nd in the vote list of all players. Also congratulations to Scott Daugherty on 2nd team DL and to honorable mention Dusty Miller RB and Shawn Childress WR. Dusty had 2524 yds rushing his senior year. Shawn would have been higher but the Rock didn't throw a lot of passes this year. He would have been a 1st teamer on any team that had a QB that had a great arm.
  21. Joke alright. What about Dusty Miller from Rockcastle Co that led all rushing yards in the state with 2534 yards and only make honorable mention. Now that is a joke too. It depends on your local area. These sports writers take care of their local kids. If you don't have a local AP then you are out of luck. The Courier Journal All State voted by coaches will come out on Dec 24th. That is the most fair all state.
  22. Rock will be rebuilding. Will be very young at a lot of positions.
  23. Schools have to pay their membership dues to vote. You are not allowed to have a coach or a player voted on if you have not paid your dues.
  24. The Bob Allen Pigskin Classic is at Danville.
