And as many predicted Nick Petrino is first team QB despite not getting the nod for all district. What do the coaches in Trinity's district see that coaches from the rest of the state not see?

 

Is this proof of tunnel vision against Trinity by the coaches from their own district?

So did Kurt Bovard of CCH make both 2nd team and Honorable Mention?

 

Why are there 6 DL and only 2 LBs?

Or maybe it was an effort to spread a little hardware around, considering that Petrino was a lock to at least be 3rd team all-state. Would Petrino have been 1st team all state if Tandy or Ammons had won a title and Trinity had lost to Male? I don't think so, and a 3rd team all-state being snubbed for district honors is hardly a shock.

 

I think Petrino deserved to win, and I think he's a top notch HS QB. But it doesn't have to be a conspiracy.

Taking your position, shouldn't someone else have won the Gatorade KY player of the year, Paul Hornung award and Roy Kid award other than Doug Beaumont because he was Mr. Football? Shouldn't Doug have been second team all district as well? I guess the "spread the hardware around" effort didn't make it out of Trinity's district.:lol:

1) It was obviously good enough for him to be 3rd team all state. I think if Christian County wins state instead of suffering a first round upset, there is NO question that the coaches in this state would have selected him 1st team for leading the first 'state' team to a 4A title in forever.

 

2) There is no rationalization for the 'spread it around' mentality. It is an irrational mindset in my opinion. The best player is the best player. I think, in this case, it was considered to be the case that there was far and away one best player in the state this year in Doug Beaumont. I think Chase Minnifield was another legitimate opinion, but Beaumont got the benefit of direct competition with another contender, Vic Anderson, not just on the same field but head-to-head and he was the resounding winner of the matchup.

 

3) I would like reitterate that IMO, Nick Petrino deserved 1st team all district.

This type of voting is perplexing. It reminds me of the basketball voting several years ago when Josh Carrier was Mr. Basketball, but was runner up as best player in his region to Patrick Sparks.

Come on Ram...you know better than that...while your explanation may sound nice, that is not why Nick was not on the all district team.

I'm kinda suprised that CCH's LB Sam Flynn only made the honorable mention.

Actually Josh Carrier played at Bowling Green (4th Region), while Patrick Sparks played at Muhlenburg North (3rd Region).

You might want to read the fine print in the paper. The fact is that 95% of the votes were cast prior to the final. So I guess winning state isn't the factor that you claim it is.

Congrats to Raceland's QB Scott Grizzle and Linebacker J.T. Forrest for making HM! I knew once the coaches got some votes these two would have to be mentioned. Two great players who had excellent high school careers. Congrats to all who made the team!!!
