TRUE REDHOUND Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I personally think Corbin will be back with the best of 2A again next year. They have a good/big/strong/quick line coming up right now that will be starters next year. They all have some game experiance, Coach Jewell did a good job of letting them taste it last year to make them hungry to play this year. So the line will not be too inexperianced. The back field will miss the hard churning legs of eric blackwood but they can be replaced, Sophomore Michael Campbell willl be on the roster this year, big kid plays fullback/tailback allready benching 305. As for the quickness they'll be missing they're are a couple of freshmen who may step up who are very very athletic and quick Caleb Watkins and Ryan Fritts. As for the rest of the back field we still have Blake Freeman who just kept suprising people game after game with big runs. Sanders will be back, he may be little but his heart and athletic ability make him as big a threat as any running back in kentucky. As for catching the ball Rob Madon is back he is a very hard nosed kid not a fraid to take the big hit goin for the ball. Of course he still will have Cashun to throw the ball to him and the others, say no more about cashun but probably the best QB in the state. Defense, it will be hard to replace Andy Millard at that Linebacker spot i am thinking Campbell may be the man for that job but you never know who will step up. As for the D-line they will be good again as expected from Coach Farris and Coach Foley these two will make sure Corbin's d-line holds up the reputation it has been know for since it all began. The denfensive back field is returning a lot of experiance with Martin, Madon, Mitchell gonna be hard to get over on the Hounds this year in my opinion. Whats your opinion?
statmanhensley Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 It will be a dandy of a game next year when the Hounds square off against the Rockcastle County Rockets in the first game of the season in the Bob Allen Pigskin Classic at Danville's Admiral Stadium. I can't wait for the season to start already.
WILDMAN Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 You also need to mention Kevin French who sat out this past year with an injury. He would have made a HUGE impact in the backfield, split out, and on D. I look for him to be Cashen's go to guy next year. As Coach Jewell, Coach Farris, and the rest of the coaching staff always do, they will turn this bunch of boys into men. This year it won't take until week 5 until they are ready to start busting heads. Corbin was young this past year but this year they will be back to the Corbin of old. The talent is there but it all falls back to the leadership they will get from their coaches. They can and will get it done.
footballfever Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Not sure what Corbins no district schedule is but I cant see them beating Bell or Rock.Maybe 4-3 non district record.Their district will again be weak. Garrard and Wayne may be able to give them a decent game but not Casey. 1st playoff game at home should win 2nd game at home will be a toss up dont think they can make it past round 3.

Rockcaslte @ Danville Oldham or E. Jessemine (Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic) South Laurel Lexington Christian Bell County @Pulaski Co. @Middlesboro @Wayne County Casey County @Garrard County All of these games are winnable but some will take near flawless efforts from the kids. This group knows how sweet it is to beat arguably the top traditional Rival with Rockcastle as they did two years ago. With that game, they will know what it takes and should be ready to roll. Nobody on this team has beaten South Laurel yet but they seem to understand that this is a rivalry with no loveloss and can be down right ugly. Coach Jewell, i'm sure will have the Hounds ready to defend their home field. Bell has a 2 game win streak going but Corbin gets them at home. Everyone knows good and well that these two could lace it up and you never know what the outcome will be. They eptomize mountain football and should provide a game that we are used to seeing between the two top programs in E. KY. Corbin vs. Middlesboro=nuff said
CoachJ Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Oldham or E. Jessemine (Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic) Per contract, Corbin is to play Oldham Co. The first game will be East Jessamine against Pikeville.

Don't know how i forgot how about him he will make a huge impact this year it wouldn't matter if they put him at tackle he is a all round great athlete. Will probably me the most intense and meanest player corbin will have on the field this year.

Your wrong, on any given night corbin CAN beat and team that is on this years schedule.
TRUE REDHOUND Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 Another one I forgot to mention is Anthony Martin he is a real big kid and will be a good anchor point for the line. Although he was a freshman last year he showed alot of improvment toward the end of the year on the Defensive line. He didn't get very many oppurtunity's but he made the best of every single one he got, along with Hayden Nolan and Taylor. Of the four the leaders should be Nolan and Hayden for they say more varsity playing time that any of the ones listed. Future is looking bright also by the time middle school basketball is over the freshman #'s out for this year will be around 25-30.

WILDMAN Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I can agree with football fever. On paper Rock and Bell seem to have the upperhand as of right now but that's why they say games aren't played on paper. Both games should be exciting ones to watch. FF, I know the Jackets return a lot from a fine team. With the talent returning, you guys should be a solid ball club with another shot at the district. The only question that you guys have would be total numbers. How does that aspect look for this upcoming year? I understand that most class A teams don't have many numbers but in district Somerset and Cumberland should have around 40 give or take 4 or 5.

I understand that most class A teams don't have many numbers but in district Somerset and Cumberland should have around 40 give or take 4 or 5. Will be mid 30's to start summer practice. Somerset has a little advantage with the #'s because they have 500 9-12 and Wburg has 203 9-12. Had 3 seniors this year but only 10 boys in senior class. Somerset should be slit favorite with LC 2nd and rest of the pack pretty even. I think LC had the best team this year but let it slip away. They could actually be the best team next year also. Corbin should go 5-2 in non district...Lex Christian lost alot, Oldham wasnt very good last year, Pulaski should be a win, South and Middlesboro, Corbin a slite favorite and Bell Rock , Corbin a slite underdog.
LC99 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Corbin should be improved, replacing Eric Blackwood will be tough, his abilty can be replaced somewhat, but speed is something that is tough to replace, and Blackwood has speed. With what Bell and Rock both have coming back they will be very hard games for Corbin, both teams have a great shot at the 3A title. South is down but has had Corbin's numbers the last few years, should be a great one. LCA lost a lot, but if there is a program to watch out for its LCA, they have made big strides and are well coached. Middlesboro only lost 3 seniors they should be a lot better. Imo if they cut down on turnovers this up coming year, they have a great shot making it to Louisville. The non-district is very tough for the Hounds and will get them ready for the playoffs. I would be very surprised if they drop a district game. With the playoff format this upcoming season, Corbin wins their district they get 4 home playoff games. I believe in the years that the format has fallen this way Corbin has made it to the semi-finals, and finals one year. Corbin is very tough at home in the playoffs, even the games they have lost at home have all been very close, and could have went Corbin's way. Good luck to the Hounds in 06.

Is Aaron Manns going to play football as a freshman next year? He could become a star in a couple of years if he does. There are 3 or 4 off of the basketball team who should also think about giving football a try. Cobin has the largest number of talented lineman coming up in the program than I can remember since the late 70's and early 80's. If they will work in the weightroom the way that group did, the sky will be the limit for the Hounds over the next 3-4 years.
