Corbin in 06'???

Featured Replies

It's hard to make those predictions with this being one of if not the best rivalry in Eastern, KY. With the exception of the Pigskin game year before last, they've always been barn burners. Corbin and Rock both may dress a lot of players but the fact remains that neither team will be full of athletes. I've not seen a team in Eastern Kentucky in the past ten years that just ooze athleticism. Like most Eastern KY football games, this will be won in the most important place on the field...the trenches. On paper Rock has a better and more experienced line but the Hounds are inching closer. I do give Corbin the advantage at the skill posisitons but like I say, they only get you as far as the hosses take you.

Just wondering, what's your definition of an athleticism!

Any info on the younger boys. I know casey crawford and cory sewell are working hard on the weights. Both boys as scrappy as you can get. How many up and coming freshmen do we have.

My definition of a team full of athleticism means numerous players running legit sub 4.8 40's and will just kill ya with speed. Here in this part of the state, if we have someone with 4.6 speed, we got the next Deion Sanders. The styles dont seem to rely on speed here, its all about lining up and running over ya.

OK! Good point, but i think that the coach controls that, Their are many athletes that fit your description and yet they don't use them.

corbin has jake mcpheron. he beat blackwood in 40s 3 times last year when he was a freshman.

Lets not forget michael campbell, who beat jake in sprints drills. Cory sewell also has excellent speed.

I could see Crawford as being a Urrutia or DeWalt type receiver and a possible Div-1 player. He is 6'4" tall, jumps very well and may be the fastest kid in the entire school as a freshman.

Love to see it, but it will nver happen.

Vernon Peters is a good sized boy with a lot of speed and will be a good player next year on the line. He starting to understand why corbin football is important to the community because he just moved here last summer.

Their outlook for next year is definitely looking good!

What grade is he in and how big is he?

He's probably about 5'10" 240 or so. He wore #69 last year. I think he moved here from LA or somewhere out west. He didn't get much pt last season. He kinda reminded me of Kenneth Miller in both size and looks.

If he turns out to play like Kenneth Miller, he will get all the PT he wants.

Are there any new guys at Corbin that plan on playin or workin out?

Corbin will be better and stronger up front, clint's gonna put the ball where he wants it out there, but without a go to guy like Blackwood the year before, its going to be harder than people think. THese skilled players have potential, but from personal experience with playing with him, Blackwood is a great athlete that many pale in comparison to on the current roster. I'm curious to see how Blake Freeman plays next year as he was running very towards the end of the season. Crawford could be that go to guy, he's certainly athletic enough to fill a void in this offense, but to say that this team is better than the past 6 or 7 years teams is a little mislead, they're not as strong or as athletic but I think they have the heart to do good things.

Crawford will not be playing football for the Hounds....get over it and prepare the ones you have to represent the school the best they can....sometimes kids just want to work in one sport.....be it good or bad....that is the facts..... he is one of those that knows he can write his ticket playing basketball....so why risk the injury....ie Isacc Mills and many others.

Anyone got an update on how many kids are coming out spring ball including the ones that are playing baseball? I heard as many as 74 were lifting counting the basketball players that play football were lifting during the winter. If that number holds up and 20 of them back out, that would be a solid 25 more than Corbin had on the roster last year give or take 2 or 3. Also what are some of the new names to look for?
