Corbin in 06'???

Featured Replies

73 is a great number to start out Spring Ball with although I do think there are close to 10 or 12 seniors now. I couldn't list all the names but I do remember hearing that number. Does that include the basketball players? If it does hopefully 73 will be moved up to 74 or 75;).

I was watching the football banquet on the Redhound channel the other day. Coach Farris made a great statement that with small schools, teams should be willing to share athletes. Obviously, Corbin does share athletes with so many multi sports players such as Cashen, French, Hamlin (bball baseball), ect. I just wish there would be more encouraging rather than just allowing the kids to play more than one sport. Sure there are athletes with goals to play one sport in college that would benefit both teams and could risk injury but they also may be missing out on a lifetime of memories and a couple months of fun.

That number does include the basketball players(Cashen, Madon, Sewell, Craig). There are a couple of kids who if they decided to play could push the Hounds over the top this year!

Here are the seniors that I can think of, maybe someone else can fill us in on the others.

1. B. Freeman

2. Miller

3. Woody

4. Martin

5. Stewart

6. Reeves

Why do you think the Rockcastle game will be a loss?I disagree. Corbin has many more players retunig than Rock. They will have many more athletes on the field than Rock. Rock lost many good players on both sides of the ball.

Rock brings back a very dominate offensive line and this is the year Coach Larkey has been building for the past few years. I think it will be a very good game, but Rock may be one of the top 5 in 3A in 2006.

It will be interesting to see how the coaches use these 2 athletes this year. They have the ability and size to play anywhere their needed. I for one don't think they will be able to stop the campbell Kid and french is as elusive as a sweat bee!

I'm not sure about French's speed but with that size, he would be an animal at safety. He could be the DB that we've been looking for. Like I said, I don't know much about his speed but do know he is a great athlete. He has that hitman mentality too. From what I hear, he has the mean streak of a rattlesnake and will knock your block off out on the field.

How big is Campbell now? I've heard Cashen is close to 6'1" 230 (although he doesnt look as tall due to thickness) and Campbell is a lot broader than Clint? Also does anyone have Clint's lifting numbers?

Campbell is close to 6-0 @ 225 stong as a caged bull, No need to have clints #'s, just protect that arm.

Does Campbell still have good speed at that size?

Rockcastle will beat Corbin by 21+...... mark it down. Rock returns virtually their entire team, and will be a top 5 3A team easily. Dont know where you are getting that they lost alot of good players on both sides of the ball. To say that Corbin will have more athletes on the field then Rock is pretty laughable as well.

It's hard to make those predictions with this being one of if not the best rivalry in Eastern, KY. With the exception of the Pigskin game year before last, they've always been barn burners. Corbin and Rock both may dress a lot of players but the fact remains that neither team will be full of athletes. I've not seen a team in Eastern Kentucky in the past ten years that just ooze athleticism. Like most Eastern KY football games, this will be won in the most important place on the field...the trenches. On paper Rock has a better and more experienced line but the Hounds are inching closer. I do give Corbin the advantage at the skill posisitons but like I say, they only get you as far as the hosses take you.

I think you nailed it! Rock will be the favorite due to their more experienced line as the Hounds will start a lot of sophomores and juniors, but these kids played last year as frosh and sophs and are getting stronger every day. Being the first game will work in Rocks's favor, but Corbin will be able to give them all they want this coming season.

The last time Corbin played Rock, almost everyone on this board picked the Rockets to blow out the Hounds, but the blowout went the other way that night. This should be a good game if the young Corbin lineman work as hard in the weightroom between now and August as the Rockets do.

Last year he was the fastest kid on the basketball squad, That's saying alot for the big kid. He also gets stronger the longer he plays. I think were in for a real treat this year. He is good at everything, but football will be where he accells.

I'll be the first to say Corbin 2006 10-0 going into the playoffs. Mark it down.

I hope you're right but that's gonna be tough for a team that still is a young bunch. I can see them going 8-2 in the regular season. By the end of the year, I think they will be able to beat any of the 10 teams but they'll probably take some lumps early due to so many new players getting used to playing with an already young core.

2007 on the other hand could be the best Corbin team since the 2001 team with Sizemore, Neal, Nantz, Cook, Miller, Hoover, Mills, Foley, Cima, Bays, and that bunch.

Could you imagine a lineup of..

QB - Cashen

RB - B. Freeman, Stewart

FB - Sanders, Campbell

WR - Madon, L. Freeman, French, CRAWFORD, BARLEY

TE - Light, French, DEVON ROGERS, ?????????;)

OT - Hayden, Mocahbee, Martin

OG - Nolan, Woods, Woody

C - Taylor, Miller

DE - Woody, Miller, Woods, Light, ????????;)

DT - Nolan, Martin, Mocahbee, Taylor

LB - Martin, Sanders, Stewart, Campbell, French, B. Freeman

CB - Martin, L. Freeman, Mitchell, Wagers

S - Cashen, Madon, CRAWFORD, BARLEY

I could see Crawford as being a Urrutia or DeWalt type receiver and a possible Div-1 player. He is 6'4" tall, jumps very well and may be the fastest kid in the entire school as a freshman.

Dont confuss that fever with the real fever.....Bell and Rock ..Corbin will be underdogs....South,Middlesboro toss up, Christian, Oldham Pulaski favored..Christian lost a bunch...1st round playoff win at home...2nd round at home will be toss up , dont think they will get past round 3

Think thats more realastic for the hounds, but you never know in high school football

Love to see this happen, Any ideas on how to get them to understand 4 years and it all over. with their athletic abilities they should play as many sports as they can.
