  1. JVDFC, it is just a time issue more than anything at all. I have made some wonderful friends on here, and kept in touch with others who I don't get to see much anymore. This is a wonderful site, but right now it seems I hardly have much time to breathe. Clyde may be right, I am surprised I decided not to renew my subscription with football season just starting. But now everything is just nuts (but not really in a bad way) Gold Sunrise, I think the first time we met was actually at a GRC vs NL football game in Winchester. Nwo, I remember that well, ... I think that was the time the band boosters closed down the concession stand at halftime (don't know what they were thinking) GCHS I definitely expect to see you at one football game this fall, not sure which yet Jim, you have my email dude Pepper II, you are very welcome. You have one heck of a program being built right now, that's for sure! You all have said some very kind things, and I really do appreciate it. I hope to be back, but will have to see when my schedule lets up a little bit.
  2. I have decided I will be leaving BGP. I have enjoyed my time here and all of the interesting discussions. God bless each and every one of you.
  3. I believe the U18 Sluggers won the Nationals on Sunday if I am not mistaken!
  4. True. However, being willing to do the same things your teammates had to do when they were rookies goes a long way to building a team environment. If you immediately put yourself above those who have already played in the NFL just because you think you are all that, .... you are not being a team player IMHO.
  5. Word has it that the North Laurel vs Harlan County game from North will be broadcast live on Wazoo sports.
  6. I think you nailed it. Nearly every team seems to be taking steps forward. Should make for some exciting football!
  7. The Bengals could use TO at this point. The defense was solid, the running game was very good, but they were somewhere around 26th in passing and still won the division. They need another solid WR to go opposite Ocho. While I truly dislike TO it might be a risk worth taking for one season.
  8. You can't compare the athletic ability it takes for cheerleading to those events. Apples to oranges.
  9. I think 8-5 is probably about where I hope they will be. Very good analysis on your part!!
  10. This is why this country is in the shape it is in. "I am right, you are wrong, ... noone on the other side of my beliefs has a clue, ... The Tea Party is bad because of what this person said, ... the NAACP is bad because of what that person said, ... you are in the party that is responsible for the shape this country is in, ... it is all the democrats/republicans fault, ..." The people who love to trash the other side, are the very ones who keep electing the idiots in DC. This is why I despise politics.
  11. Talk about bang for your buck! My guess is that the crowd would have been exhausted with 2 stage shows like they both put on!
  12. I was watching 'Kissteria' last night on A&E. I was surprised to see the crowd in Australia singing every word to 'Shandi', a slow song off the 'Unmasked' album. Paul was doing an acoustic version and the crowd was singing every word. It is amazing that a band can still go sell out arenas 35 years+ after they started playing. Then again, I saw them when I was a kid, and many times after up until I took my wife to see them on the Reunion tour with the original members in 1997.
  13. Great idea Jim. I have seen them numerous times, most of them in the late 70's and early 80's. Hard to pick just one but here goes my top 10 (which is subject to change): 1. Detroit Rock City 2. Rock Bottom 3. Strutter 4. I love it loud 5. 2000 Man (I know it's a Stone's tune, but I love their cover) 6. Love Gun 7. God of Thunder 8. Firehouse 9. I (from the Elder) 10. 100,000 Years
  14. I heard on Mike and Mike this morning that as many as 20 states have passed laws which allows colleges/universities to sue agents for $$$ lost due to NCAA sanctions, loss of bowl games, lost games, lost TV revenues, etc resulting from agent actions which resulted in NCAA penalties. That is a start. The NFL also has a process to decertify agents who are found guilty of tampering or gifts given to collegiate athletes which impacts their eligibility. The NBA has no process to date, but is looking at it (so I have heard).
  15. If you can be with an monitor your children 24/7 then you are a better man than I. The problem lies with the loads of cash the agents who lack any ethics can make off these athletes that are the problem. There is no way that an institution or coach can monitor every kid they coach 24/7. If a snake finds a hole to sneak in to get their food, they will do it. And that is what I think of some of these agents. It never seems that the big name agents ever have their names linked with this type of behavior. The reason is probably that they don't have to and don't want to sully their reputation.
  16. If the professional sports would ban agents who had been found guilty of tampering with a collegiate student athlete from representing professional athletes, that might curb it a little bit. Penalize the snakes who cause these types of issues where the only people penalized are those who seem to have nothing to do with it (eg. the college, the remaining student athletes, etc).
  17. North could be better this year than last year. Losing Wardrup, Shears, Miller, Baker, etc hurts, but having Fugate back at QB with all the work he has put in will be a big plus. The O line could be solid, and I think it will be RB by committee which could make them more dangerous as you never know who will be running the ball. A full year under Larkey and Sams and the off season program should make NL better as well. Don't be surprised if a freshman with a familiar name to NL fans comes up a few times this season, .. Gabe Blair. Gabe is a freshman and the younger brother of former all state NL RB Nik Blair. Nik was quicker and had a nose for the end zone, but Gabe has good quickness and speed, and is bigger than Nik. I am not sure if Gabe will be a factor this year, but I wouldn't rule it out. I am sure there is still a Rotundi at NL (has been about every year since the family moved to London) and those kids play hard and smart. I think NL will throw the ball a little bit more this year with the work that Fugate has put in and the confidence that Larkey is beginning to put in him to air it out, and with his running ability, tuck it and run when he needs to. IMHO, the biggest loss won't be Wardrup on offense, but Baker on defense. Baker led the team in tackles and seemingly was all over the field making plays on D. His hustle and natural ability as a LB will be missed.
  18. 4 years old in Louisville. I have no idea what I was doing.
  19. I agree and I don't have a solution for how to keep these ethically bankrupt agents away from the kids. These snakes will find a way to slither into the backyard of college athletes. How can the NCAA keep them away?
  20. Most do defend their own with more fervor than if it is an opponent, that is very true. And not just UK fans are guilty of this. However, I am an avid UK fan and could care less what school it is from when it comes to my feeling on the actions of some agents. A recruiting violation is one thing and something a school should be held accountable for, ... an agent preying on young kids by handing them a little cash is another. I realize the schools tell these kids very specifically what to watch out for, but a slick agent telling some 20 year old kid "sign with me after you are done with football, and I can get you a little cash now", is a problem that is hard for a young kid to walk away from.
  21. Then start a thread on it. This lifelong UK fan doesn't believe this does anything but sully the reason for this thread. The fact that you chose this thread to take a shot at UL fans, says more about your true colors and not the UL fans. God be with Melvin's family and friends.
