  1. I was able to see Jordan play in person one time. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Kobe play live. But I agree that Jordan just had that 'X' factor. I felt I was watching the best basketball player I had ever seen when I saw Jordan play.
  2. We have a winner. That is Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top! Well done CWB!!! I am impressed, ... had I not known who this was beforehand, I would never have guessed!!!
  3. Famous guitarist for a famous rock band. See if you can guess who this mystery guitarist actually is? HINT: This picture was taken in 1973 ......
  4. Redbird Mission School is officially closed after the conclusion of this past school year due to financial issues. I hate that but understand how the landscape has changed over the years. JD Wilson was probably the most underrated coach in the mountains. He got more with less talent than anyone I have seen.
  5. I don't think anyone said it was while he was a sitting president. I believe there were some regrets in his writings and/or memoire later on. The changes in the news cycles (really starting with Clinton) have put the President more on the hot seat now than ever before. If they fart and someone even THINKS they did, it is all over every news show for weeks 24/7.
  6. I am with you there. There is one region with only 4 head coaches as members. Jim does a great job in keeping this information updates (college signees, all state teams, news and notes, etc).
  7. I bought a 4 disc set of Hitchcock movies & some old episodes from his TV show in the 1950's. Watched a few of those. The Chaney Vase and The Magicians Apprentice. Pretty interesting to watch these old shows/movies. The acting styles were considerably different than what we see today.
  8. That is the most impressive performance I have ever seen. However, .... Bill Russell getting 30 points and 40 rebounds in one game vs the Lakers in the finals has to be at or near the top of the list as well. Everyone forgets Russell who was the best player on a team that won 9 titles while he was playing.
  9. Here is the link. http://www.kyhighschoolsoftball.com/allstar.htm Jim McAllister does an excellent job at keeping this Ky Softball Coaches website up to date. Below is the coaches all state teams (1st, 2nd & Hon Mention) http://www.kyhighschoolsoftball.com/allstate.htm
  10. I know that Taylor from NL and Gaines from SL will be on the East Sr Squad. I think both NL and SL have a few players on the junior east squads as well.
  11. Texas A&M fans apparently NOT happy at all with the school's decision to remain in the 'watered down Big 12 for short term dollars' instead of joining the SEC. http://tamu.scout.com/2/978071.html
  12. The issue here doesn't seem to be the call but the exchange between the fan and Tackett. So if I understand it, ... someone can make smartelic comments to Tackett and he cannot respond? Is that about right?
  13. I would not agree with that at all. She can take the tour like any body else! :thumb:
  14. Very good point. I had not thought about that. I voted Cousy/Russell, but given this, may want to change my vote to Jordan/Pippen.
  15. I agree that we do have a TON of sports clamoring for our sports viewership. I also agree with Jim that many of the foreign countries much less developed than we are have been exposed to soccer and many of these kids only need a ball and nothing else to play. The basic rules are also MUCH simpler than our other sports. You try to kick the ball in a goal or between 2 objects and can't touch it with your hands unless you are a goalie.
  16. The news report I saw today said that he had already called for backup. While I hate to see a 17 year old girl punched, ... I would NEVER think about putting my hands on a police officer like that. No way, no how. That is a position I respect and have problems relating to others who would not have a second thought about pushing a police officer like that. Just plain stupid IMHO.
  17. I am a casual fan. They didn't have soccer when I was in school and even though I have coached it at the little league level and seen plenty of games from middle school, high school college, , ... even went thru some coaching clinics to try and understand the game better, etc, .... I still realize that I don't understand the intricacies of the game. If given the choice, I would much rather watch American Football or basketball. It will never catch on here as it is overseas. But I understand not caring for it, but I don't get those who feel they have to ridicule it. I'm not saying that you do that, I just don't see why so much venom for soccer from some. I don't turn on the world cup to watch it, ... not my cup of tea. But I do respect those who play the game at the highest level.
  18. I LOVE American football, ... best game ever IMHO. But I have seen football players get on the soccer field and try to keep up. It was funny. To play it right, just like most any sport, is not easy. But that is the mentality of many fans of other sports, ... if I don't like it, I must ridicule it. I actually always liked Jack Eicher (former South Laurel football coach) and his take on soccer "I love soccer. I think every kid should play it. It is tremendous for their footwork. Then once they have their footwork down, let's get em to play football!" I still don't think it will ever be as big in the US as it is in most countries. Not enough scoring for us American fans.
  19. I have 2 brothers who played soccer in college. One of them has been a coach. My son played for years. I have a great appreciation for the sport. It requires stamina and very good footwork. I have seen it played at the college level and gained an entirely new perspective. My favorite sport is football (nothing else comes close for me), ..... but I don't make fun of the other sports or ridicule those who play them just because I don't like them. Seems such a waste of energy.
  20. Kobe wasn't even the best player on his team for his first 3 titles. That was Shaq. Jordan WAS da man for all his title runs. Kobe is arguably the best player in the game today. I know the argument can be made for Lebron and I understand that, ... but either way, like him or not, Kobe is da man right now. These arguments always crack me up. If you pick Kobe, you are a Jordan hater, ... if you pick Jordan, you are Kobe hater. Personally, as people, I don't like either one of them based on what little information I really know of them. I probably like Kobe more as a person as his indiscretions became public and he dealt with them while Jordan's apparently were brushed under the rug and hidden at the time. But as a players, they both amaze(d) me. However, the first player I would pick for my all time team would be Jordan. He was one of the most fierce competitors in any sport I have ever seen. If I had to pick a team from today's current stars, while I don't think you would go wrong either way (Kobe or Lebron), ... given these playoffs and the fact that Kobe has a chance to pick up his 5th ring this year, .... I would give the edge to Kobe over Lebron. But right now, I can't put Kobe over Jordan.
  21. Izzo could not make the jump without knowing what Lebron is doing. Since Lebron doesn't know yet, Izzo made his choice. I think he made a wise choice. The Cavs without Lebron are a 25 win team with no chance at the postseason whatsoever. I respect Izzo and this did nothing but confirm my positive opinion of him. He is good for college basketball and I am glad to see him stay.
  22. Good for Coach Koogler. Glad to see him promoted. Nice guy.
