  1. Primus will never get a lot of commercial airplay, but those are 3 excellent musicians. Claypool is an amazing bass player. He actually auditioned for Metallica when their original bass player was killed and they were amazed by him, but his style didn't fit their style. Larry "Ler" LaLonde is an amazingly proficient guitarist who studied under Satriani, although you would hardly tell it from his style. VERY underrated!
  2. Another good article on Coach Chris Larkey, ... from an assistant coaches' perspective. Good read. http://thetimestribune.com/sports/x383286153/Jaguar-Rumble
  3. I feel very fortunate to know all three of the Larkey men. And as the saying goes, behind every good man there is a good woman, .... in this case, there are 3 Mrs. Larkeys who are very supportive of their husbands, and one of them also of her two sons. This is a true story, .... Harlan County did not play the friday of Week 0 and Tom was at the North Laurel vs Pulaski County game. I was within 5-10 feet of them the entire game. He was as nervous and excited watching Chris and Dackery coach as I have ever seen him. Towards the end of the game, with North scoring in the final minute to take the lead, Tom made his way to the field. When the game was over and Chris' Jaguars had pulled off the huge upset over the eventual regional champion Maroons, Coach Larkey had tears in his eyes. He was just beaming with pride for his boys. Then I see Mrs. Larkey on the field, taking pictures of her sons & husband, the grandkids, etc. ... just so happy and excited for her boys. You could see the geniune pride and love this family has for one another. It was honestly one of my top 5 moments watching a high school football game.
  4. Nope, but in this case, while I LOVE Nirvana and they are definitely in the conversation, but they are not on the same level as Cream IMHO. Again, that's just my opinion.
  5. Is confused about what colors real Colonels wear ..... j/k
  6. http://www.sentinel-echo.com/features/x1703935138/Celebrating-Fathers-God-football-family I had the great fortune of playing for Tom at Laurel County High almost 30 years ago. I knew Chris as a young boy. Now I have gotten to know Chris as an adult. This is one family I truly think a lot of.
  7. Cousins is getting more criticism than any of the Cats in the draft.
  8. Nirvana and all of these bands really owe their very existence to Cream and Hendrix.
  9. No, .... Cream is the 'cream' of the crop when it comes to 3 piece bands. One of the greatest rock bands ever IMHO!!!
  10. If we look at 3-piece meaning only 3 members OR only 3 playing instruments with a singer, it changes the landscape quite a bit. I will go with 3 members. I am not necessarily ranking these in order, just trying to keep up with how many I think would be in the upper echelon of 3 piece bands. 1. Cream was really the forerunner of the rock 3 piece band. 2. Rush had a very unique sound 3. Nirvana did usher in a new genre with their grunge sound 4. ZZ Top, southern rock with that Texas twang and so wound up in the blues they were/are solid 5. Jimi Hendrix Experience (nuf said) 6. Buddy Holly and the Crickets (rock and roll legends) 7. Greenday (punk with pop/rock leanings) 8. Grand Funk Railroad (morphed into 4 piece later on, but started as a 3 piece) 9. Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble 10. The Police 11. ELP 12. Triumph 13. Kings X 14. Zebra
  11. IF the American people were truly educated on the difference nuclear power could create (and it all seems to be positive from what I have read and heard), the choice would be easy. But when is the last time you heard anyone in Washington really talking up nuclear power? The word 'nuclear' has a negative connotation to most Americans and since those in DC only believe we listen in soundbytes, .... they don't even like to utter the word 'nuclear' unless it is in regards to a foreign country using the technology for bombs. Nuclear power would be: cheaper, more efficient, better for the environment, etc. But sadly, I don't see it happening. Instead, our experts in Washington would rather tax coal fired generation plants to the point of bankruptcy as many of their customers would not be able to afford their bills with the Cap & Trade proposal that has been discussed. And do you know who will make the money from that system? Not the coal plants, or the coal miners, not to regular US citizens, ... but the government & the traders of the credits. The cost will passed on to all of us.
  12. I would be willing to bet that Izzo got Lebron's number, called him to see what he was going to do, when Izzo heard 'I don't know', he made his decision to stay. I cannot blame him one bit.
  13. 'Tres Hombres' was the album that turned me on to ZZ Top. One of the best pure 3 piece bands ever in rock and roll.
  14. It may be, but it was on either Billy Gibbons' or ZZ Tops facebook page. It was strange seeing him without the trademark beard!
  15. That is a tough call. I went with Magic, ... but in a few years I might change my vote to Kobe. Magic absolutely redefined what PG was for me. One of the only players who proved that he could play any position on the floor if needed. But you could make an argument for any of those players. Jabbar is the leading scorer in the history of the NBA, Miken was the game's first dominant big man, Wilt's numbers were staggering (on and off the floor), Kobe has 5 titles, etc. But Magic Johnson (along with Larry Bird) saved the NBA from a league that was boring (except for a few stars like Dr. J) to a more exciting era of pro ball.
  16. I didn't get all the results, but the East Senior All stars went 2-1.
